I love this cut and colour. If I was a little younger or a little more daring, I'd be going for the blue, purple and pink.

I think it the red would look hip on someone near 40. Over 40, the style I can see, but maybe not the colour.

Maybe it is cultural because my work was the last thing I was worried about. I just suggested it to another teacher who is quite a bit older than me and she said 'how cool. get it done." I wonder if our dress code is much more relaxed than in other countries. But its definitely made me stop and think.

I agree with Bella. Working as a teacher, you certainly don't want to look dowdy, but you want to maintain a sense of professionalism. I can't help but wonder if you would lose some of that with red stripes in your hair.

I can't really imagine this hair (even with the red stripes instead of blue) being appropriate for a professional, and that includes a teacher, imho.

Thanks Elly I think my natural colour is mid or dark brown. I used to dye my hair blue black and with the fading in the sun didn't really get a regrowth. I am a teacher but dress is more casual in some schools and I am going to work in a low socio-economic area school and so dress code is way more relaxed. When i worked there before one lady had piercings etc. I know it wont be a problem as far as work appropriate especially as my work clothes are more formal than what most teachers are wearing (so it kind of balances it out)

The hair cut itself is definitely appropriate and cute! You have medium brown hair, correct? Are you just adding the red strips or planning on dyeing the rest as well?

I don't think it is necessarily age inappropriate, but my question is whether or not it is job or lifestyle inappropriate? Someone that is 40 but works in a creative field or is a stay at home mom would pull it off better than a lawyer. Same with your wardrobe.

Also, remember that even though the magma color is single process, it is still way damaging because it lightens your hair many stages and then redeposits color. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to get a true red or maroon unless you were already very blond! There will also be lots of upkeep because these "fashion" colors-- especially red--- fades really fast.

My opinion is that as long as you feel confident rocking this look that you can definitely pull it off!

Hi I've booked myself in tomorrow for a hair cut and colour with red magma strips. Trying to get ideas and liked this hair style. Obviously I'm not dying my hair blue but I like the style with strips of red. ...what do you think? age appropriate? I'm nearly 40.
