You're right it could be shampoo. About 6 months ago I was using a colour specific shampoo/ conditioner by Jàson and I noticed my grey hairs coming through as though it was stripping my colour I'm using one by Goldwell at the moment which hasn't caused any fading x

Thanks, gals. I am considering some sort of leave-in UV spray to try the next time I buy hair products. I usually use a shampoo & conditioner for colored hair but right now I'm trying to use up a different impulse buy from Trader Joe's, which is maybe why I'm noticing more fading than usual. I dye my hair but it's not that much darker than my natural color so it's hard to know what's sun fading and what's just general dye fading.

Louise, I don't blowdry that much either and my stylist always comments on how my hair is in good shape too. I guess sloth pays off

I don't use UV products but I always use colour specific shampoo and conditioner and I rarely use hairdryer or straighteners. I get my roots dyed every 2 months and my hairdresser is always astonished that it still looks so vibrant. Red toned colours usually fade really fast, she can only put it down to lack of heated appliances x

I use a leave in conditioner by L'Oreal and they also have a UV protect spray that I'm planning on buying. I think using a color protect shampoo vs. a regular shampoo makes the most difference in keeping your color nice, but these additional products help keep the sun from fading your color. It probably depends on your climate and how much time you spend outdoors, but here in Colorado we are closer to the sun and it doesn't get cloudy here very often.

I was reading a blog recently where she swore by hairspray and such with UV built in to keep her color looking good. To be honest, sunscreen for my hair had never occurred to me before. Do any of you regularly use hair products with sunscreen, or have you found that it makes a difference?
