I had checked Youtube Kate, but I kept seeing girls with ultra long hair, which didn't really help. Seeing the girls with the cute short bob was really helpful though I think 1" might have been too big for the first one. My hair is longer than theirs so 3/4" is probably better. I found a coupon code for Folica so I can get it a bit cheaper. I just did a quick and dirty test with my current flat iron and I think there is some real potential for my hair to look cute curled if I have the right size. Will post a pic when my batteries are charged.

My best advice is to spend some time on youtube looking at tutorials of how to make curls/waves with flat irons. They usually say what size they are using, and you can see which sizes of flat irons match up with which sizes of curls.

For example, this one is using a 1" flat iron: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtippnI1D9Q

this is with .5": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZim4WPesI8

I use a flat iron sometimes, when I'm tired of the curls.. thicher are better for longer hair, thinner for short hair.

I know the thinner ones are cheaper but, in this case, you should invest and buy a larger one, they do a better job.

But I have other ideia, you could buy the smaller one. Use the one you have to flatten the hair and then, for the final touch, use the curl iron.

Currently I have this flat iron:

http://www.folica.com/Solia_Tourmalin_d1558.html

It does a great job and I have no complaints. But recently I thought one of the things I could do to get through this awkward growing-out stage is add some wave or curl, like so:

http://www.urbanoutfitters.com.....oductSize=

The Solia is rounded enough to curl effectively and works on some of my longer bits, but 1.25" is too wide for my most of my hair to wrap around the plate.

Solia also makes this tiny .5" flat iron and it is only $40. I thought it would also come in handy for when I get bangs cut. Is it TOO small? There is also this .75" version: http://www.folica.com/Solia_Tourmalin_d1690.html but it's a lot more expensive for just being a little bit thicker...

Which one is better?
