Chewy is right! You gotta "fake it till you make it!". This is the time to pull out your favorite go-to formula and work that baby even if you are wearing it a LOT. Sometimes the dud's as you so well put it serve a purpose... They teach us what we DON'T want! All of this is necessary as we move along the adventure of learning to dress ourselves. The more you 'plan" your looks and analyze WHY you like or don't like something (see my post today about a beige epiphany for an example) the more you will learn to blow right by the stuff that is toxic to us and get to the sweet stuff that makes us do the happy dance. Don't give up. You KNOW you can look good! This is just the depression talking. You are fab!

I just wanted to offer you some *HUGS* and i hope you start feeling better soon. I like the suggestion of focusing on something else you like to do and don't stress to much about not having a "perfect" outfit. Maybe revisit an outfit you've put together in the past that you loved? Focus on things you already know work? Hang it there and remember that fashion is supposed to be fun!

Awwez; do you have a favourite store you usually never go to because of ... some reason? (too far away, too expensive, etc). I try extra hard to make it to my "special store" when I am down. :)

Nothing practical to add to the excellent advice already on board --- focus on the other joys and fake it a little (can be with a fallback fab formula, can be with just one bright shirt or scarf close to your face and never mind if the rest isn't perfection).

Just know that there are people of all sizes, shapes, ages, affluence in this world... and almost all of us have (or will) go through at least one such blue-black phase. Some of us get doled out more portions than others, but that's true of so many things in life both good and bad, isn't it? Yes, this WILL pass, believe it or not --- even if it feels sometimes like there is no end in sight!

Also, cut yourself some slack --- you DO look good already! You DON'T need clothes to do that for you, right? The lack of options at the shops has NOT succeeded in preventing you from looking and feeling fine on other days, yes? You will get there again. Trust that thought.

Oh, and give yourself PERMISSION to feel good occasionally? Don't guilt yourself out of enjoyment that you do find. You do deserve nice things, and being plus-sized or poor is not something that makes you any less worthy of joy.

I have been there (very recently) and know what it's like to feel like your mojo isn't working.
Chewy had the best advice "fake it till you make it". I think doing something positive for yourself will help - reading a favorite book, go to a movie, cooking a healthy meal, going for a walk, hanging out with friend/family/dog/etc. Just get away from the clothes thing a bit and help move those feelings along. I do find for myself that getting out of the house is a positive mood changer most of the time - change the scenery, change the pace, change the mood.
If the shopping is frustrating, take a break from the hunt.
Vibes and hugs to you!

We all go through these times fashion and style wise no matter what our weight.

I tend to do bubblebaths and make-up when I feel like this. Something about making the me part of fashion just a little bit fresher even if the only ones I see during the day are the animals.

I also pick out a different piece of jewellery that I love but haven't worn much.

It seems easier to go through the trying on horrid outfits thing when you feel that the you part is polished.

So sorry for the rough patch, Mander. Chewy has good advice. I find that sometimes it helps me to focus on something else for awhile. Hyper focus and frustration sometimes breeds more of the same. Do something else that brings you joy and revisit fashion and your wardrobe when you are feeling more positive. Cooking, crafts, walks in nature, reading a good book, a home decorating project, an outing with a friend.....

Do you have a fast fall back formula? I've felt very much like this for a while now ( just beginning to see my dressing mojo again this week) for the last few months I've thrown on leggings and a tunic and scarf, not very inspiring but I felt put together, comfy and ready to face the world. A wise ylf er once said this too shall pass and its got me through the last few months and do you know what, it does eventually pass ( hugs) x

I'm sorry Amanda. I think we all go through these rough times. My favorite tactic is to 'fake it til you make it'. Continue getting dressed up as if you're feeling fabulous, and soon you will (hopefully). It sure helps me to turn my mood around when I know that at least I am looking presentable, and the compliments don't hurt either. I hoep you are feeling better soon!

I've had a bit of a bad week or two, depression-wise, and I'm feeling totally uninspired to pick out any interesting outfits at all. I have recently bought several things that have turned out to be duds and have been really frustrated with the lack of plus-size clothing that I actually like and can afford. All of this adds up to me feeling like I'm just too fat and poor to look good, so I shouldn't even bother trying. Sigh.

Anybody got any favorite tips for combating these kinds of feelings?
