Ooh! Exciting! And hey, maybe as it fades into futurity it can be *dyed* emerald later... d'you think? Or is a DVF too precious to play with?

IK is right... Ebay and Paypal protect the buyer in this situation, but I would still follow her original advice and let Ebay handle it before sending payment. If you pay now and the seller ends up shipping the item to you without reading your emails, and then if the measurements are off when you receive it, you have to ship them back and go through a claims process to get your refund. More of a hassle... I'd prefer forcing them to respond before giving up the dough.

AG - yes, I have, particularly when the item is expensive and I have not had communication. The good news is, even if you pay right now and don't get your item, you can get your $ back via paypal. In fact, even if you get the item and it doesn't fit, and it was listed as unreturnable, you can say it wasn't as described and get your money back.

I'm a little afraid even to send money until I hear something (since I never got a response to my requests for measurements) but will that put me in the wrong? Don't most sellers send an invoice?

Well, since you've already contacted the seller, I would just wait to hear back from them for another day or so anyway. It's a low volume seller so probably no worries that your message is lost in a deluge. They may be young and highly distractable. (new word)

I've dealt with a couple of sellers that were hmm..... less than organized, let's say. Everything did eventually work out but I didn't find that out until AFTER I'd paid and so it was a little stressful.

Have you done that before? Does it work? I don't want to cause problems for the seller, but it seems a little weird to have heard nothing, not even "I'm on vacation" or "family emergency".

I'd contact ebay and have them handle it. Or simply wait until they send you a nonpayment invoice, then deal with it then.

UPDATE! I heard from my seller. Apparently s/he never received my two emails prior. Was very apologetic. So now I can tell you what the item is - it's the DVF cropped leather jacket I'd wanted two years ago! Not in green, sadly, but in a nice neutral grey. I paid less than 1/4 of what it was going for retail. I am just praying it will work - the measurements are right, and I think grey will be less hard-core than black and more likely to play often. Will post photos when it arrives!

So I won a fairly pricey item on e-bay. Before bidding, I wrote to the seller twice asking for measurements, and never got a response. I was able to find the information myself through Nordstrom and placed the minimum bid and won. I then sent a short e-mail to the seller to say please contact me before I send payment since there has been zero communication. It's been two days since I won and I still have heard nothing as of this morning. No invoice, no "sorry I didn't respond earlier", no "stop being psychotic" - nothing!

The seller has 100% positive feedback, though only 18 items sold. Could they have dropped dead? Be on vacation? What would you do?
