It's so hard to watch and think about, but we all have to confront it one day I guess. It sounds like you got everything you were looking for and more, so that's good. Anyway, I just thought I'd update you guys on my situation.</p> <p>If you remember, the last thing I posted was my dilemma about accepting my promotion versus going home. I ended up doing both. I've been working at my new position since the beginning of the year, and at the end of the month, when my visa ends, I'll stop working at my company.</p> <p>That's actually kind of a weird situation -- I had thought my visa ended at the end of march, when really, it ends on march 1st. So I have a ticket to go home at the end of April, thinking I was giving myself time to tie up loose ends, etc. Now it turns out I'll have two months bumming around until it's time to leave! This is not a huge deal -- I have savings and will not be spending much in that time -- but I will definitely still need to be motivated to get dressed up even with nowhere to go, otherwise I will feel like a slob! I plan to use that time to apply for jobs in Malaysia and make sure I'm set up to be active and working when I actually arrive back home.</p> <p>My mother is doing well, but with a new niece and a new nephew I haven't even met yet, and being mindful of my parents' advancing age and deteriorating health, I know I'm making the right choice. :)</p> <p>In the meantime, while I'll be sad about leaving this job, I'm looking forward to some big things before I leave: Our 3-year anniversary :), a move to a cheaper (but bigger, and more gorgeous) apartment, a Neil Gaiman reading and signing event (!!! He is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE author), and the biggest thing of all -- a combination anniversary/birthday trip with the bf to BOSTON! i've been before, once, and had always planned to go back, so he's a sweetheart to pay for it all. :)</p> <p>Phew. This was a long one, but I know I'll be turning to the forum again and again in the next couple of months as I make this odd transition from job-obsessed to jobless, america to malaysia. Thanks for being there for me. </p>
