There is nothing that I can say to bring you comfort, I know that. Some people just decide to go it alone. I am a very social person who spills my guts but I also didn't want to tell people about my diagnosis until there was no choice. For me, it was really about not having to support other people through their reactions. You must trust that she will take care of herself by identifying what will give her some peace to get through this. It must be so very hard for you, and I know your own health hasn't been that great. My BIL was diagnosed with multiple lung cancer nodules and with treatments, they have shrunk them down to nothing. He is now on a maintenance treatment only and doing well. He never smoked a day in his life; they think it was from radon exposure in the family home growing up. I'm glad you and Biscuit can be there for your sis. The waiting and not knowing must be nerve wracking.
