Frances McDormand's speech was excellent, and she looked lovely -- I too liked that she chose not to wear make-up; it's perhaps the strongest statement you can make at these shows.&nbsp;</p> <p>I agree that Nicole Kidman's dress emphasized how gaunt she is -- shining example of "the clothes wearing the woman" imho.&nbsp;</p> <p>Saoirse Ronan looked adorable in pink, Lupita Nyong'o's gown reminded me of armor in the best way, and Helen Mirren was really stunning. I also rather liked Greta Gerwig in saffron -- the colour struck me as both unique and approachable, somehow. </p> <p>I have to say I often find the more modest styles to be the most attention-grabbing at these events, which are such a sea of strapless/backless/plunging necklines. Everytime I did click over to see what was going on, &nbsp;it was pretty uninteresting. &nbsp;I think I'm over the whole awards show thing now . &nbsp;I did see MJB singing and though she looked fantastic - especially her hair. &nbsp;Nicole Kidman's dress was very cool, but I was so distracted by how incredibly thin she is and how big her head is compared to her body. &nbsp;Not good. &nbsp;I liked Frances McDormand's choice of dress because it looked authentic to her.
