This year did watched most of them, (just our little party of 2) but I only got 5 correct on the ballot! so bad.</p> <p>loved: Nomadland, the octopus teacher, Another Round, The White Tiger. The Sound of Metal--especially in that film we appreciated the diverse cast and the fact it was just normal people living their lives. The Father is on my list, by like others its close to home right now so that one is going to be tough</p> <p>so many really strong documentaries--Crip Camp was really good. And the documentary shorts were intense, but I think so important to see. "A love song for Latasha" is beautiful and heartbreaking. I felt like Olivia Colman's dress wasn't properly tailored through the shoulders and bust. I was underwhelmed by most of the women's fashion, sadly, though it was delightful to see many men breaking free from the traditional black tux. </p> <p>We have seen Nomadland (I didn't find it depressing, relatively speaking, i.e., relative to what's actually reality in the US right now; it was powerful, bittersweet, beautiful, touching), Judas and the Black Messiah (excellent performances by the two male leads in service to a brutal, painful period in US history), Sound of Metal (also excellent), and Another Round (Danish, won best foreign feature, also excellent!). Looking forward to watching Minari and The Father and The Octopus Story :).
