I vote take the skirt to Nordies and work with a personal stylist to find the top.

Wow, the skirt is gorgeous.

You already have way better ideas than I have. My lace skirt is shorter, and I wear a cashmere sweater over it in the winter for dressy holiday functions but I still want to be warm.

Could you treat it like a pencil skirt? Try a more fitted top with it?

I wear my lace skirt with shirts and also knits that I tuck into the skirt. Knits with a welt, I leave untucked. If I had this skirt, I would pair it with something similar. I love Suz’s suggestions. My skirt and tops are in finds.

A skirt like this is really versatile. I don't have a lace version, but I've worn tube skirts a lot in the past. Here are some examples of the type of tops I've worn with them. The exact tops won't work for you (because they won't be available) but the styles can give you an idea. Tucked or untucked (depending on structure of skirt and shape of top). With toppers or without.

I don't own a wrap or tie front top but it would look great with a skirt like this.

Fitted lace top could definitely complement. I looked around yesterday and didn’t see much in this resort town I am currently visiting. The hunt continues...Thank you, Mainelady.

The skirt is beautiful and I think you have several options for tops. I think a lace 3/4 sleeved blouse in the color of your choice or a sleeveless lace would be fab. I would opt for a fairly fitted silhouette, so as not to distract from the skirt. I can see a creamy, sleeveless faux wrap blouse, with a little peplum, or flounce working well, too. Please post pics when you have your outfit!

Joy, such wonderful ideas. I will keep my eye for these: a navy or grey lace top (like the idea of repeating the lace); white is generally not lovely on me (close to my face) but love that assymetrical EF soft/flowy image; turquoise/aqua eyelet top for summer; a cashmere pullover for winter. So very helpful. If I could press two, I would click 'therapy' as well!

Other ideas, for cold weather, an oversized pullover sweater. ( I like to wear a cashmere turtleneck), blue denim or chambray shirt, a shirt with blazer.
Hot weather: Hawaiian print halter top or tee with some black in the print, blush silky, drapey sleeveless top, turquoise or aqua eyelet top.

I once met a powerful business woman who was wearing a white lace pencil or tube skirt with an ecru lace top worn untucked. I still remember how captivated I was with the shades of white of the outfit and think that you could achieve something similar with the black lace skirt and a navy or grey lace top. Or you could go black and white ( your best shade of white) or, as jussie said, a simple silk top. I have a black lace skirt that I like to wear with an assymetrical EF top of light jersey knit. I will see if I have a Find. ETA: sort of a combination of the finds below.

I would need to see some visuals—a wrap might work or a silk tank. All depends.

What about a simple silk sleeveless shell top, tucked in, or untucked if it’s not too long?

CJ, does the top have to be worn untucked? How about some sort of wrap.

Because of your earlierpost on this skirt and Angie’s post, I ordered this skirt. I loved the detail. Straight off. The peplum top is very sweet. And not too blousey. It seems like this kind of skirt would do best with flowy yet not high volumed tops. Softer fabrics like silk. I wonder too if it would respond well to a top that has more structure, like a defined waist via ruching. Thank you, Christina.

What has worked best for me thus far is this black and white peplum top, and the same t-shirt that BR showed with it on their website. The latter won't help for your event, but maybe the peplum will give you some ideas.

My new midi black BR lace skirt needs a top. Purchased without one (one of Angie’s don’ts, or I wouldn’t be here, this moment!) and for one occasion (also a don’t on some lists, mine incl), I need suggestions for dressy tops (I have a wedding in early October and am the Reader and grandma of the bride) and other occasions so that i can wear it more often. How to do justice to this sweet skirt? What kinds of shapes and materials and colors/patterns? Thank you!
