I like the idea of blush/soft pink, Cheryle. Seems nicely in keeping with the Merlot tone of the skirt--not to mention more in my matchy comfort zone than another colour might be I only have a couple of items in my closet, both with prints that won't work. I went to BR looking for blush blouses last week, but didn't find anything (though I did come home with Linda (milehighstyle)'s blush moto jacket!) I also searched Nordstrom and Rack sites and ended up a bit overwhelmed, but plan to continue.

I love your suggestion of hunter green with this later in the season.

I think you have a lot of options and just wanted to say that the skirt is gorgeous and I am looking forward to seeing it in outfits.

I picked up instyle magazine yesterday and they had a color combination that was burgundy with soft pink and hunter green accents. It was gorgeous. the color of your skirt reminds me of the color combo in the article. Do you wear blush or soft pink?

I've ordered Jenava's 1, 5 and 6--love those sale prices :). unfortunately the Joie that Murpheleven suggested is back ordered until the day of my event. I'll post pics of all the suggested options when they arrive. Thanks for the expert advice everyone!

Thanks for the advice on ordering, Donna! I didn't see a 'redirecting' message in the URL when I clicked on the pics, so wasn't sure it was logging w/Nordstrom as being from YLF. Thanks, too, for the tips. I really do like Jenava's #6 so pleased to hear you think it might work with the skirt.

Yes, I do believe that's the way the commission works. And it's so convenient. I always try to order that way, (sometimes a discount, as in birthday month, etc. won't work with whatever link is provided).

Also wanted to say I like Maneera's #6, something like FC's in grey and Janeva's #1 and #6 with your skirt. And I totally see you NEEDING Janeva's #5!

Oh, wow, you guys are just the BEST! I'm so sorry I posted and bailed, but how fab to come home to all these brilliant suggestions. Unfortunately my "official photographer" is on the road, so I won't be able to get pics until later this week, but will post when I do.

Angie and Joy, I hadn't thought of grey. I have a light grey EF cashmere tee that might work; I'll take a pic when hubs is back.

Maneera, I have a ivory boxy top with a lace overlay similar to the one in your last pic. Do you think lace on lace would look okay? Or too much? The top's at the cleaners but I'll try it and photo when it's back.

Murpheleven, I love that blouse. Hadn't considered navy but it would certainly be a versatile addition to my wardrobe.

Firecracker, that top would be perfect! I love the details and lines for this skirt.

Smittie, I think a turtleneck is an awesome idea for when the weather is cooler. It would neaten the look nicely. Joy, I love the Angie find you posted as a match for this skirt.

Jenava, I love, love, love your choices. Thank you for taking the time to think of these. I seriously NEED that mint Rebecca Taylor in my life, and I have some unspent Nordy rewards. I'm a little worried about my confidence in print matching here, but really like the idea of the last two picks if I can carry it off. you make a great point about treating the skirt as a neutral.

Does anyone know if I click and order through the links posted above...do Angie and Greg get a commission? I'd like to make that happen, but not an online shopper and need a tutorial on how ordering via YLF works.

I'd do a tie neck blouse with it, or a wrap-front blouson top. I'd do navy, or a pastel. You can pretend that it's a neutral and pair it with other colors (pale blue, pale pink, orange, royal blue, turquoise, purple). Ivory or white is a no brainer. I would also consider a plaid, as long as the shape, color and fabric were on the dressy side.

May I ask why you need to cover the waistband? Do you just not like it? I think you could either blouse out your tucked top, or add a wide belt over the tucked top.

It might be too warm, but what about the Theory pullover that Angie has or something similar? Maybe a lightweight cashmere sleeveless shell? I love the look of nice knitwear with a dressy skirt.

I'm not sure what to suggest for a spring/summer pairing - I have a lace pencil with grosgrain waistband and struggle with this issue too. What does look effortless is an untucked sweater in winter (covers the waistband).

Oh wow! That's a really really gorgeous skirt!

I think you need a short, cropped boxy tee with this skirt. Black, cream and a patterned white & red cropped top world look amazing and lady-like to complement the vibe of the skirt.

Unfrumped did a post recently with a cropped top and culottes---you need a top like that. I've seen many at Zara and Mango.

Of course, you can choose a top that covers the waistband of the skirt and doesn't expose any skin. Here are a few inspiration pics

Here's a beloved but somewhat orphaned skirt. I'd like to wear it to a little reunion dinner with friends from Europe in New York later this month -- if temps cool down; it's going to be mid 90s here today!

I typically wear this with a silk tee in the same colour, though it was purchased as a stopgap and I feel it looks that way--possibly a bit casual with this skirt. I love the Edwardian vibe of the lace overlay and sometimes add a necklace from my great grandmother--though that accessory is a decidedly oddball piece and may push things over the top on the era. I'll try to take a pic later and add.

I love the look in pic 3, with the blouson style that covers the skirt's grosgrain waistband. But that's not my colour and I'd prefer something with sleeves so I don't need to come up with a topper -- I'm always cold in restaurants. Does anyone have suggestions on tops? I've been looking for blush or possibly a metallic bronze/copper colour but haven't found anything that works. I'd like something that creates a less deep autumn/holiday look than my typical pairing. If you've come across anything in your surfing travels, I'd truly appreciate your ideas.
