Thanks all for chiming in. Whilst it is spring here I will be making some pumpkin recipe soon (they store well and and are available all year).

I think risotto will be first on the list.

I think orange being a good colour is a clue you are warm toned - I don't take colour theory for people too seriously but orange is about as warm as it gets. Although I think oranges that lean to the coral are quite versatile.

Sal, you look really super in pumpkin colours.

I’m late to the party on this one. Butternut squash soup is my favourite. Pumpkins are more for caving for me. But I’m also uneasy about Halloween.

An amazing Gandalf outfit and absolutely stunning pumpkins CardiffGirl!

Great outfit and the dress is especially good! We eat a smaller form of squash that is sort of a mini-pumpkin and do not carve at all, although one DD is interested in doing so. Usually roasted, sometimes in soup.

Love your orange dress! I saw it in our local Trenery window. I voted orange!
I love pumpkin soup or roast pumpkin salad which we often make. Re Halloween-I didn’t hear the interview on the radio as I had stopped driving by the time it was on, but they were going to interview a Wiccan who was going to say that NZ should celebrate Beltane instead as that is a pagan Spring festival rather than an autumn one which Halloween is. When I was still a churchgoer ( which I haven’t been for many years) there were indeed concerns about the pagan roots of that festival. The idea of a Spring festival instead does make theoretical sense in the Southern Hemisphere but people are used to the date of 31 October. I’m not concerned either way!

I love the orange dress, and the white Birkies are so versatile.

As for pumpkin, we eat a lot of it. When my son was little, he loved it so much that when we brought one home (for decorating), he patted it and said, "Yum, yum!" I make pies, a version of sweet-potato pie (can be made with sweet potatoes, pumpkin, butternut, acorn and other squashes), soup and plain whipped as a vegetable, but the seeds have always been my favorite part. My family's favorite part is pumpkin muffins or pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting.

You look fab in the orange dress, and it looks really chic with the camel colour accessories. I was one who voted for you to get orange over navy, and was clearly correct :) In Bulgaria a typical breakfast pastry called Banitsa is phyllo pastry with feta cheese, and at this time of year the cheese is replaced with pumpkin. Yummy!

Angie - thanks! I prefer butternut too but I think of that as a type of pumpkin. I think North America has more types of squash than here - I hear of spaghetti squash and have never seen that here. Roasted is delicious - cumin, Cinnamon, coriander! Mmmm. And yes two pairs of sunglasses is not a bad thing given my absent mindedness.

Rachy - I will make the soup for you if you make the soufflé for me!!

Barbara Diane - thank you and wear your flashes of orange!!

JAileen - I do like pumpkin pie too although it is not traditional here. Roasted butternut is lovely. Your garden is looking ready for winter but the squash looks great. I hope you enjoy eating it!!

NemosMum - thanks. Hope the carving goes well - are you doing family dress up photos this year?

Lisa - thanks!! It is a typical pattern for me and we can blame our Gemini tendencies! The orange dress feels like a winner - added the pic now.

Suntiger - pumpkin samosa sound delicious!!

Staysfit - I don’t think we have orange often in sports teams here. And yes I lie roasted pumpkin seeds too. Hope the celebrations go okay this weekend for the neighbourhood children especially since it is a Saturday Halloween.

I want to add that for years, Halloween was a holiday. It was the day our state was admitted to the union. We’re the Silver State or the Battle Born State (admitted in 1864), but oddly, never the Halloween State. We always had a fun and relaxing lead up to Halloween.

Thanks Bijou - I have a fondness for scones too. And it is satisfying to wear out the shoes. Rollies are very comfortable but not repairable ( rubber sole and in my case, perforations).

Thanks Brooklyn - I did forget the photos! Your pumpkin dishes look and sound wonderful. Pumpkin with salty feta is yummy, and crunchy seeds or nuts add a good contrast.

Fashintern - Yes we are out of sync with Halloween. It is a bit controversial here - some people think it is not a local tradition so why celebrate, some churches are against the pagan aspect, and some people dislike the disposable dress ups and decorations. But it is light and not scary in the most part. We sometimes do something and sometimes don’t - but if home would buy treats to hand out.

Carla - good luck with the carving! And it will be interesting to see how many trick or treaters. I have never heard of being allergic to pumpkin- so can see why it is a rare treat.

Phoebe - I love cranberries too but they are not common here except for in juice (from the US I think).

I love the orange dress on you! I try to wear Halloween type things. I have a pumpkin jacket in double faced wool, a jack o lantern pin I made in a jewelry class, and my skull sweater. I wore the sweater the other day when I went to our church to stuff envelopes. I haven’t worn the jacket or pin this year.

Pumpkin pie is traditional for Thanksgiving, and it’s one of my favorites. I don’t usually use pumpkin for anything else, except for a jack o lantern. We’re not even doing that due to the pandemic. My favorite winter squash is butternut. I love it roasted. Roasting improves just about everything. Here are a couple pictures from our vegetable garden. We had a hard freeze earlier this week, so everything is kind of dead looking.

Well. Now you have TWO great pairs of signature aviators :)

GREAT score on the cozzie, and LOVE you in those white birkies! Wear them with the dress!

We don't eat or carve pumpkin. We prefer the flavour of butternut and delicata squash, which we eat quite frequently. You can do soooo much with it! My faves are butternut and tomato curry, or simply roasted in the oven with spices and olive oil.

Thank you all. Thank you all. For all the recipe ideas. You’ve inspired me.

I especially love the dress.

Wednesday I decided to pop the bit of orange in my primarily blue print top and came across my always forgotten at Halloween time candy corn earrings. And I have one multicolored striped top that includes a small bit of orange. I think that’s it for orange clothing. I also have an orange bangle that is so old I have no idea when or where I purchased it.
