It's not really as "dirty" as mustard in real life. Brighter and closer to citron, but a slightly sour citron, if that makes sense. I found a warm light yellow tee when shopping for summer that was a fun addition. I wore it with an ancient headed to landfill black micro-gingham skirt. I can’t remember the last time I had something yellow. I have vague memories of a yellow Oxford cloth shirt that made me look like death. I wouldn’t worry about it being a closet orphan; when I hung them together and tried to make outfits I realized none of the various greens I have bought over the years match any other green piece. But they all get a lot of wear. I think I will indeed find lots of ways to wear.  Janet, can't wait to see you in coral! Sometimes it's good to venture out of our usual. In this case, it will be a momento of your amazing trip! Re the yellow top you show -- yes, it looks ok, you can wear it...and could wear in combo with blues etc. -- but I'm betting there would be a better yellow for you out there.  I guess the trouble with moving out of our usual zone is that with the colours that most easily suit us, we can move up and down the tonal scale quite easily and it will pretty much always work. Congrats for trying and enjoying something outside of your norm. I enjoy yellow — looking at it, decorating with it — but it is definitely not my best color either. I looked at this yellow color in the first photo below a few months ago, and it’s not horrible, but it’s not my best. If I have a bit of a tan, a pale not-too-warm buttery color can work, but really I’m best off using it as an accent. Mostly I just don’t bother. That said, I do sometimes venture into colors that aren’t strictly my best. I bought a cute coral tee shirt yesterday from a local Portuguese designer — there was a beautiful saturated green that would have been really nice on me, but my size wasn’t available, and the coral spoke to me. It’s perhaps just slightly more pink than this sample below. It’s a great shot of color for your winter wardrobe. This is one of the colors I call the weirdy yellow greens and I love them. I have a similar color in a sweater, as well as a muffler, gloves (two pairs!), and a small bag. Your sweater will play wonderfully with your blues and creams, and it would also be a great partner to both cool and warm shades of olive. And definitely with my blues and greys as well!  Sharan, that's a great cycling jacket!  Merino and cotton is indeed a very unusual blend -- I don't think I have ever owned anything like this, and I am surprised at how nice it is. Time will tell about the pilling quotient. Thanks for the open mind.  It's not a warm yellow. It has its cool and warm integrity, which is why I suggested it. I can wear it too. It's brighter in my pic because that's a night time photo under bright artificial light.  AND, as I always say - you cannot see colours in isolation. Gorgeous with the greys and silver here. Fab with your blues and whites. And cranberry and lilac :) I wear citron with burgundy too.  * the best part about this pullover is the FABRIC. It's a cotton-wool blend. Feels glorious against the skin because of the high cotton content.
