You look so chic! I like it with or without the jacket. I love how the pattern creates a waist. The jacket is an added bonus. I love the structure it brings and of course you cannot go wrong with a red shoe. I hope you are having fun

Good morning and thank you my friends. I appreciate your wisdom so much. The striped dress is a definite return, I just don't love it enough to bother with the alterations.

Ingunn pointed out it is very me and I think that's one of my issues here in that its a very typical dress choice for me and the more I look at it, I find I am bored by it...I want something different.

Suz, yes some other dresses are now contenders so I will make a final decision this morning.

Lyn D yes it's going to be 33 degrees c today and I do not like the heat so my number 1 priority is comfort, followed by figure flattery:).

And to throw another option in the mix, a girlfriend gave me the most gorgeous skirt yesterday. It's a straight skirt, in a light neutral, in a silky fabric with different sized circles imprinted in the fabric. if this works with the ink blue top it could serve to create a similar but lighter look.

I will make sure I'm ready in time to grab a photo:).

Thanks again everyone, your collective wisdom is so appreciated. Have a lovely weekend xxx

Good Morning Deborah,
I missed your wedding post yesterday, but love the dress and necklace in your post!
This new- be I am not so sure about. How does it look without the belt?
As it is going to be hot by this afternoon, I would be inclined to wear the first dress, because it will probably be too warm for a jacket.
Have a great weekend!

Well, I'm glad to hear the the bloat has gone down. Mine is always worse at night, so yay for a daytime wedding! I like the idea of this type of dress for you, even if you've already decided to return this one. I hope you'll keep your eye open for a striped dress with overlapping tiers. Perfect for summer, and like you said, good for work or lunches.

I think this dress looks nice on you, particularly with the jacket, but it's not perfect, and the other one looked great. I would wear the other, and then you can decide on this one based on its own merits and not because you're feeling pressured.

Deb, it sounds as if some of your regular dresses will actually fit and feel better than what you were fearing. So you are not confined to this outfit or the dark one, correct? You could perhaps wear another dress entirely!

I like this one with the jacket a lot, but fear it isn't the best if it requires extensive alterations in a few hours. Too rushed a situation, IMO. You'd be better going with the dark outfit that you know (and know you are comfortable in.) Whatever you wear, you will look elegant and beautiful.

We all know, that dressing a column of dark colours have the maximum slimming effect, but I like this dress, too. How's without the belt(when worn alone) and with belt and a dark jacket?
If will be tapperred down the sides, I think will do a great job for work and special events, too-as nothing is more comfortable than a ponte dress, and stripes are still in.
I vote keep, anyway! Have a nice weekend, Deb, YLF, no matter what!:-)

I think this dress has possibilities, but definitely needs alterations to really flatter your figure. Why don't you go with your first option, and then you can take your time deciding if this new dress is worth the time and money to alter.

I like them both! For a day wedding, this one may be better, but both are fab. You mention taking the dress in a little, and I would suggest to take the shoulders in/up, too. That would lift the neckline a little bit, and give a better fit in the torso. I think this dress is very "you"!

Thanks so much Bj and Caro:). I knew it was too big when I bought it but I think I was seduced by a sense of "what am I going to wear":). My friend who is no where near as discerning also encouraged me to buy...I was weak lol.

Caro I think the issue is more how i felt the other night when I tried the outfit on. I'm not feeling that way now so I'm going to retry the outfit and see how I goe this time around. I'm happy wearing the darker colors and I suppose it's part of my signature. Unfortunately the new necklace broke tonight (I will return it) so i will need to rework my accessories.

So the dress is going back:).

I really appreciate you putting me back on the straight and narrow so to speak xxx

i like it best with the jacket. on its own, it makes you appear wider that you are to my eye, esp across the shoulder and torso. looking back at the photo, i think the width of the shoulder strap is not flattering. if you keep, think about narrowing these as well as the skirt.

Hi Ladies,

Thank you so much for your help on my previous post! I must have been experiencing some weird bloating because I retried a couple of my dresses today and they are not fitting as close as they seemed the other night !?!

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-a-wedding

In the meantime, because everything felt so uncomfortable I picked up this dress today. It's a ponte fabric and does require a couple of minor tweaks for a perfect fit. In fact if I keep, I will have the skirt tapered a little.

Is this a better option for the wedding? Some of you did mention that the darker outfit might not be ideal for a daytime wedding?

I like this dress, it's comfortable and in the mirror has a more slimming effect (an illusion perhaps) - figure flattery is one of my priorities. I would wear this again easily and it would transition niceIy to a work dress. It would be suitable for a couple of work/volunteer functions (lunches) I have coming up this month too (the only common person there would be my colleague).

It's going to be a hot day tomorrow so a topper may not be necessary but I have tried it here with my white jacket.

Honest opinions sought please. I am not attached to it and can return it if you don't think it's good enough.

BTW there is no real styling here. I will consider accessories etc if it gets the ok.

Thank you so much. I eagerly await your thoughts...wedding in less than 24 hours:)

xxxDeborah
