I found this particular pair of booties to be comfortable, but for an unexplainable reason I found them kind of frumpy. So weird! On the one hand, black booties would be good, they would go with everything I have. I will try the grey with my black skinny jeans and my grey wool coat, because maybe they will look off with the grey of my jacket. To me, in person they looked grey not taupe, but maybe my eyes are wonky! I'm also kind of wondering if they may go on sale even more just after Christmas....so it might be worth it to wait. I considered them (especially in taupe). But I had the same slight reservations and didn't end up trying them on. One thing that concerned me was the texture of the leathers somehow seemed ...frumpy. I don't know what the heck I mean by that. On the one hand I loved the suede / leather mix. On the other hand, there was just something about it....</p> <p>In the end I left them (for now) because I thought the ankle opening looked too wide. But I definitely think they are worth a try. In person the taupe ones are really a great colour - it's definitely a cool taupe - I really liked it.</p> <p>ETA: I also own a pair of taupe booties or I'd have been even more tempted. Are you sure the grey ones will read true (cool) grey though? Maybe wear the clothes you want to pair them with to the store to try on. I am still very much in need of booties. I never have anything to wear with my trousers other than my oxfords, and it may be a smidge out of season for them. I saw these the other day at Naturalizer, the heel is something I could wear, and they looked funky. But now I'm wondering if they're too oldish for me. In person I liked the grey ones better (they look more taupe in the pic, but grey in person). They may not be forever booties, but they are on sale right now, down from $150 to $70. And they do have the Naturalizer N5 technology and I usually find that quite comfy. But I don't want to buy frumpy boots either. There was one pair at Aldo I liked but they were all suede and I think that will get ruined way too quick. </p>
