I like the outfit with the jeans and the jacket, and in every case would suggest some accessories -- I envision a long beaded necklace, maybe something a little funky with a punch of color like orange. You could bring in color with your bag and shoes as well. Don't care for the jacket as much with the dark skirt, though the skirt itself is great on you. I would encourage you to be bold with your color choices and add drama with accessories. I'm also quite tall (5' 10") and believe we can capitalize on that by doing things that might overwhelm a smaller frame.

Taffy, at the risk of repeating what others have already said on the other thread, your hair gorgeous! I love all these blue-greens on you. I like mostly everything.

The only things I'd change is shorten those capris and wear a more fitted jacket.

And a warm welcome!

Thanks for flipping Taffy.

Nicole and Ana are spot on. Here’s my 2 cents:

o	You wear wide legs well – if you can’t, who can! The ones you have look good.
o	By all means get boot cuts and straighter leg jeans too.
o	Skirt is great!
o	Jacket is a little boxy and short, but you’re on the right track with the detailing (that draws the eye upward). You need something a little more fitted at the waist and a little longer in length. I really like the idea of three quarter length sleeves.
o	Both tops are wonderful. Well done.
o	Shortening your capris is the way to go.
o	Very pretty metallic shoes.
o	Quite right. You won’t miss the slip-ons with the high vamps.

Hope that helps.

Angie..here they are all flipped (Thank you Ana!).

NIcole and Ana..Thanks for all of the critiques so far...everything you've mentioned makes sense. I had the same concern about a cropped jacket looking too small. Would shorter sleeves do that too? I'm phobic after pre-teen years of too short clothes

After looking at the pictures, I'm thinking that my style of shoe with the wide band across the foot may have to go? I just can't stand anything between my toes!

THanks again everyone. You're all very generous with your time and thoughts

Hi TAffy...

Here's what I think. First of all, I think you can wear the wide leg jeans well because of your height. That's not to say that you can't try straighter cuts. But you don't need to get rid of the wider legs completely.

Your jacket is cute, but the pockets on the hip are drawing the eye and adding bulk to your hip area. Since you're a pear, you want to draw the eye up, not down. I'd look for puffy sleeves, lapel and chest pocket detailing. Maybe even a half sleeve, elbow length. I think cropped jackets on someone so tall is going to be a challenge. I'd have to see it on, but my thinking is that it could potentially look like it's just too short and ill fitting for your tall frame. Even if it's the intended style, on a tall person, it could look accidental.

I love your skirt, and the green top is very pretty. One thing to be careful for is where your empire seams land on your bust. I can't quite tell if that seam is seated properly, but it looks like it could be a problem in other empire seam shirts, or as you move about.

The capri pants could definitely be shortened into walking shorts. I had all my capris shortened this year and have been living in them. You wont regret it.

Well, since we *think* you are a pear (I'll let Angie chime in since she's the expert), a jacket that is a bit shorter would actually be a good thing, I think. This is what Angie says about lengths of tops in her pretty pear post:

"The length of your tops should always catch you on your hipbone. Avoid lengths that finish straight over your bottom. Avoid tops that stop just on or above your waist. This emphasizes your disproportionate top to bottom ratio.

Always wear slim fitting tops, sweaters, cardigans and button down shirts. Choose styles that define your waist and show off your torso. Boxy trapeze jackets continue to be all the rage and you can absolutely wear them (despite the fact that this goes against the rules) if you keep them cropped, fitted snugly at the shoulders and matched with a longer and slim layer underneath."

Since your waist is straight and rectangular, you will especially want to wear styles that give you the allusion of more definition in that area, I think.

The cropped J. Crew jacket might work, but it would depend on where it hits you. We'd have to see it on since you're tall and it might not hit you on the same place as it would someone like me (who's a shortie). :)

As to flipping the photos in Photobucket:

When you have your album open, there is a blue bar there that says, "Photobucket: My albums, group albums, etc." Underneath in the grey bar on the left, there is an option that says, "Edit images." When you mouse over it, a drop down menu appears with some options. The bottom option on the menu says, "More options." Click, "More options." It should let you choose which album you want to edit. If you only have one album, like me, it will automatically open the album and let you select a photo. When you mouse over a photo a button appears that says, "Select." Click on the photo you want to edit, and it will open a new window with options like crop, and then there are 2 buttons that have arrows that make a little circle. You click that and it will rotate the photo 90 degrees every time you click it. When you have the photo the way you want, you can either click "Save a copy" (blue button under the photo) or "Replace original" which will replace the photo in your album. Then you can post the direct link and the photo should appear right side up.

Sorry about the dense directions!

THanks Ana...

I have no idea how to flip the photos..do you do it on photobucket?
(good eye for the BR shirt! I would live and die there if I could!)
I loved that J Crew jacket! The jacket I was wearing was a tall..so maybe I should opt for a regular size on those...Is there a rule of thumb as to where they should end on your body?

thanks!!!

I like your outfits--do you know how to flip the photos 90 degrees before you post them? It's a bit difficult to see the outfits clearly since they are turned sideways.

The green BR top is nice, that's a good color on you. I think the capris are too long, that's a difficult length to pull off, even if you're tall. Could you have them shortened?

I think the jacket is too short and boxy for your frame. Have you ever tried a fitted blazer style with a wider lapel? Something like this (the puff sleeves will balance out your hips if you're really a pear shape):

http://www.bananarepublic.com/.....pid=583296

A cropped jacket might be nice, too:

Taffy on "Opinions on my outfits?"

Hello,

Here are a couple of outfits that I have put together since learning more about clothing "rules".

http://i277.photobucket.com/al.....CF1307.jpg

-I believe I'm a pear..so I thought a cropped jacket would be good...but without much of a waist, is it too boxy of a style?

 - Also, what's the difference between fitted jeans and too tight jeans? I'm trading in the much looser fits I'm used to.

http://i277.photobucket.com/al.....CF1308.jpg

-I've had these capri's for a while...now I see that walking shorts would be a better option right? So I can have these hemmed by MOI, but being 6 feet, where do I end them in relation to my knee?

http://i277.photobucket.com/al.....CF1310.jpg

http://i277.photobucket.com/al.....CF1311.jpg

-I've got an A line skirt here (which I think is good..) but is the jacket to matchy-matchy to go with it?

-I'm beginning to wonder if I shouldn't keep the jacket??

Thanks for all your help in advance!!
