I own two pairs of Frye boots and find them very true to size. Those boots look nice...and a good price. Hope you win the bidding!

I own two pairs of Frye boots and have found them true to size. They both required a break in period so bypassing that with a second hand boot sounds nice to me.

They are lovely, and I can totally understand your wanting them...but I would be wary of paying much for used boots/shoes. Even if they are in great condition each person steps differently and there may be uneven wear, which can cause foot trouble/pain. Ive learned this the hard way...buying 'excellent condition' used SAS shoes on ebay and while they looked good, they did not feel good after a hour or two on my feet....ebay does sell NIB (new in box) or NWB (new without box) boots also... .I'd really consider that, because you can get fabulous savings from retail- just be sure and check the sellers feedback and be wary of new sellers. Also check out 'buy it now' options- they are great...Please be aware of nasty 'snipers' like myself, who bid only in the closing seconds of an auction.

Good idea! Here is the link to one of the pairs. Not in mint condition, but I love the color of these. Feel free to give honest opinion!

Second hand shoes are the only item of used clothing that really freak me out. They cannot be washed, you know?
If you are OK with that, I can see some advantages. At least the boots are already broken in. Some styles are hard to break in. You can always inspect the item for flaws, uneven wear etc. or request detailed, close up photos of the item if buying online.
I would not pay more than 50% of the retail price.

Last year, I purchased a wonderful "like new" pair of engineer boots on ebay--they were every bit as good as advertised, for $80 including shipping (regular $250+!). I have a high arch, and they took some breaking in; I concluded that the previous owner had the same problem and just didn't give them enough time.

Contemporary Frye sizing is a bit generous--perfect for wearing comfortably with socks (like Born or Ariat sizing on me). I wear a 9-9.5, and in modern Fryes, a 9 is perfect, even a bit loose. HOWEVER, truly vintage Frye boots (before about 1990, say) run half a size smaller. Contemporary western styles for women also run a bit smaller and narrower--so sight unseen, I would probably buy a 9.5, myself.

Do be sure you know what you are getting if you are buying online and can't return. View lots of pictures (including an inside-the-boot view, if possible), ask about smoke smells if that bothers you, and confirm a heel-to-toe measurement taken on the sole. Also be sure you know how the various styles feel (campus boots can be stiff and heavy, for example--love it or hate it!).

Fryes are wonderful boots that will give you many years of wear. Cobblers love them, too--they are designed to be reheeled and resoled, and they are pretty easy to refurbish and even dye.

DH just bought me a pair of Frye boots last week. They seem to run pretty true to size. I have an 8 1/2 and I normally wear 8 - 8 1/2. When we bought these, the women says they just get better with age, so you could end up with a really cool worn in looking boot. It is hard to say if the price is worth the used. Have you been looking at a particular boot that you could post a link to?

I can't speak to the brand itself, but buying used boots as a whole can be tricky. More than regular shoes, they seem to break in around the wearer's dimensions. So their ankles may be bigger than yours or their calves may start lower, etc. Could make for a funny fit.

There are some vintage frye boots I'm thinking of purchases. I haven't been able to find the right boots, and my budget can not afford new frye boots. I was wondering a few things. Do frye boots run true to size? How much is worth it to spend on used ones that aren't returable? They seem to hold up well overtime, do you agree?
