As you mentioned you love the pieces and have the space so I vote keep them. I held on to many pieces that I loved for 10 years plus even though they were a size smaller or two than I was wearing. They are classic pieces that have not dated. Lo and behold in 2017 I put in the effort and lost the extra 10 kgs I had been carrying around for 15 years and fitted into all those clothes with ease. It was like having a reunion with old friends. I do recommend that you keep them out of sight (in another room if possible) and not with the clothes you currently wear. Intermittent fasting, portion control and a daily walk was the way for me. I am 55 yrs.

I would go with pulling out and wearing everything that currently fits, lightly filling any massive gaps, and not worrying too much about it because we have all been penned up like hamsters. Once we are out and about again, things should settle a bit, and then we can figure out where we are.

Looking forward is more important! And I have learnt a lot here from Angie and the forum. I love seeing people who live in very different places and who like different things to me- it’s inspiring!

Weight change is hard - suspect most of us have been there in some way. I think we all deserve a wardrobe that works for us now- if weight is moving then keep it very tight. Look forward to seeing your posts in 22!

Hmm have you considered a holding zone? So if all these clothing items are scattered throughout the house, instead group them so that the items which *do* currently fit are in the most easily accessible & visible spot. Anything which doesn't fit, keep it in more hidden or inconvenient storage spaces.

Try getting dressed from the 'easy' spot & make a note of what you do & don't wear - how often do you reach for something that's in the 'hidden' zone, only to find it's not there? Similarly, I also like to track wears by hanging all the items in one direction then switching the position of an item once it goes back on its hanger (after being worn).

It's up to you how long you use the hidden 'holding zone' - some say 1 month, others 6. Either way, after you decide it's done, you can always 'rescue' any MVPs that you thought about (even whilst you couldn't see them in your primary closet). Hopefully that will help you to decide how much clothing you truly need

If you need help beyond that then, as the others have mentioned, Angie has many useful articles on style. I found this one in particular helpful for starting from scratch:

Thanks for the thoughtful comments!
My weight is always fluctating, but being 50ish has added body changes happening independently of weight changes. Fun!
I have clothing in many different sizes in various storage locations througout my house. Its been a long time since i have worn the items in the smaller sizes but i cannot bear to part with them because i would wear every piece of that clothing if i could fit into it today.
There's probably some philosophy in here about getting rid of the old before letting in the new... but i have the space to store it so i keep it.
I do have a positive attitude about 2022, Maybe i should keep my things for now, and if something doesnt fit or work for me next year at this time, i donate it.
For now, I really just want to focus on my health/ healthy habits and being there for friends and family who are going through some challenges themselves.

Onwards, indeed! One of Angie's key guidelines is "dress the body you're in" (or something like that). It can be hard when there are physical limitations/ weight or body shape changes...but a few things that fit mean the world and can make anybody feel better. I hope the year ahead is a better one in fashion and everything else.

It's the time of the two-headed god Janus, right? So we look backward and forward at the same time! That's why I love this time of year. I'm really looking forward to swimming more this year. It feels fantastic even though it gives me a raging appetite.

I'll be finding out how to satisfy my shopping urge when I truly don't need a thing now. I don't want my wardrobe to look frozen in time!

And since so many of my friends and family have had terrible medical issues this year, I hope and pray for a healthy 2022 for all of them and all of YOU.

Any thoughts yet? I’m doing some holiday cleaning and sorting… and I’ve noticed my weight is the same, my size is the same (from recent try-ons), but I have a lot of things that won’t zip… or alternately droop at the waist…

I agree that some of the look backs are very inspiring! It’s also exciting to hear you’re using the inspo to draw up a plan for the new year. What’s your first step? In the situation you describe, I think mine would be to figure out why nothing fits, whether it’s body changes or things bought in haste or for some other reason. But that’s me. I think the more normal suggestion is to start with underwear & a pair of jeans

Instead of looking back at what i bought or wore in 2021, I've decided to only look forward.
Truth be told its mostly because none of my clothes fit as they should and it has been challenging to put together outfits I am excited about.
So... with that said, I will find inspiration from some of the great posts about 2021 i have seen here, and from this site in general, and focus on 2022!
