Oh a floral top in a "dressy" fabric would be perfect! Also, if the top has a peplum that flares out from the small of your waist, it would help hide a gut. Then pair it with a cropped cardigan (usual light weight cardigan material) that picks up a color in the blouse. Also, a nude shoe would be good since the pants are light colored. Glad to help!

I think the only way I am going to be able to hide the gut is if I layer on top. Someone here had mentioned layers. I love layers! I'm just not good at knowing what looks good together. Is it better to stick with textures that aren't any thing like eachother? Or try and stick to something similar in the way of texture? and how about color...close to the same colors? colors that don't really match at all? I've seen it all done and pulled off. I just don't know what to go with.

I wonder about a heavy lace top (almost like crocheted lace) in taupe, black, or some non ivory color you like. The lace would probably be in some flower pattern itself!

I would like to post a picture but cant I guess for about a week and a half:/ Silk sleeveless floral, large floral print I'm guessing? Hey, could I paste a link to a picture? Gonna try. Seems like there's just so many variables to the outfit. I've decided you are right about the shoes. Nude will be best. Now for the question of what type of material and style of cardigan?? https://www.facebook.com/photo.....38;theater, https://www.facebook.com/photo.....38;theater, https://www.facebook.com/photo.....38;theater You will have to copy and paste but there are three pics and each one starts with the https.... I hope I don't get in trouble for this~

I vote floral sleeveless floral blouse, color cardigan, maybe with some embellishment like embroidery or sequin, and a nude wedge. I personally don't much like flats with pants that are wide at the hem, so if these pants are bootcut I recommend a heel...a wedge shoe will keep you from sinking into grass. And, yes, I think a dark shoe will ruin the look of the ivory trousers. Just my opinion, of course, I'd like to see them!

I would suspect that a nude or ivory shoe would be best, but it really depends on your colour combinations. A pair of cognac shoes could look really good if there was some of that in your print, for example. Or if your hair is brown, to create a bookending effect.

Silk blouse with cardigan sounds good;) So if the cardigan is going to pick up on a color from the blouse, and the pants are ivory, is it ok for the shoes to be a darker color? I'm not one to buy colored shoes. It's either a light to medium brown, dark brown or black. Obviously black is out. Is it ok to have so much contrast between the shoe and the pant? By the way, these pants are like the mens suit pant if you know what I mean....Ok, I better just take a picture. To keep from making a comedy of errors and looking really dumb! Hmmmm....I'm guessing, since I don't see a "photo" tab close to my reply box, that I haven't been a member long enough to be able to to do that.....

Yes, it's an outdoor wedding. This is going to sound like I'm a bragger or full of myself, which I DEFINITELY not. Some one asked what my style is. I have worn and pulled off, several different styles. I don't know that I have a particular style. I guess I do like a classic and simple look. Kind of sophisticated maybe? But on a daily basis? I wear boxers and t-shirts. I like pants that don't fit snugly on the legs or butt. I haven't decided on shoes yet but they will more than likely be a flat or very short heal. I will be in grass and I'm also 5'9" My pants are a size 12 unfortunately, because i've gained weight at the gut Both Ex's are going to be at the wedding and I don't want to look like a cow. I don't want to wear all Ivory because that would take away from what my daughter is wearing. Her dress is Ivory colored. She bought a Dolce Valentino dress. Not a typical wedding dress but perfect for her and her wedding.
I would have replied to each of the comments but this was the only one I could figure out how to get to the reply area for the message.

Outdoor wedding?

I'd maybe consider something like a burgundy blazer, with black tuxedo collar. Or something like it. I don't know if you'd want to go for all ivory, because that could be a little boring.

Also, I recommend layers in Idaho in September. It will most likely be warm when the sun is out and then cool off.

I bought a pair of Ivory colored and silk lined slacks I found for $11.00, for my daughters wedding which is kind of casual but also dressy. It's in Sept late afternoon in Boise Idaho. I don't know what to look for in the way of tops, light weight sweater....I just don't know. The pants are kind of boy cut. Suggestions for color? style? material?
