<p>Wow, that's a great tip regarding those coupons. It has never occured to me to actively look for them (but I've always wondered about these codes, since there is almost always a field to fill them in when ordering.) Thanks ladies!<br />
Oh, and AnaElizabeth, yes I'm in the US, and I have experienced the in-store ordering as well. But my hope was to avoid going to the store in the first place (I won't mind going for a return, but I love the convenience of trying things on at home). I'll start hunting for those coupon codes...

<p>Some stores (like the Gap) offer free shipping if you order a spend a certain amount of money. Sometimes you have to use your Gap Card to get the discount. I always Google search coupon codes before I submit any order. As a matter of fact, I found a 10% coupon code for Esprit just this afternoon.

<p>Are you in the US AntjeH? I sometimes go online and type in "Coupon"+ (name of store) and I have found coupon codes for free shipping for these stores. It doesn't work every time, but I've had some good luck with it. J. Crew seems to charge a ton for shipping, and I ordered 2 items and got free shipping. Plus, if it doesn't work, I can return it to the store. </p>
<p>Another option is to inquire at the brick and mortar (if you're close by) to see if there is a way to order an item in the store to get free shipping. For instance, I used to work at Coldwater Creek, and if a customer came into the store and ordered an item, we had a code for them to get free shipping. The item was still shipped to whatever address they wanted, we just didn't charge them. J. Crew has this option also, they call it "the red phone."

<p>In the comments to a recent blog entry on online shopping, it sounded like many of you used online sites that offer free shipping. I didn't know such risk-free online shopping existed for clothes (I've done plenty for shoes, on Zappos, Endless, Piperlime, Shoebuy etc.)<br />
Today I checked out Esprit upon Angie's recommendation and was delighted to see that they offer free shipping. And lo and behold, Ann Taylor Loft also offers free shipping, at least for the time being. So now I'm curious - are there other sites out there don't charge for shipping (and that either let you return items in their stores or offer free return shipping)? I'd love to do more ordering online if I can avoid the $15 shipping charges that I thought were customary...
