I managed to find a belt! Just a simple dark navy, going well with the jeans and everything else. And not expensive either. So I'm definitely taking the jeans. And the navy version of my grey T-shirt arrived and it's a lovely color! I'm still thinking about jackets, shoes (adding sneakers?) and whether I should take the plaid skirt too. You can see the handbag I'm taking in the pics below, I don't think you've seen it yet. I bought it a while ago on a deep markdown, it's canvas with some leather detail. It was from the men's department. I love the colors! And the striped lining is fun... With the rather casual bag I'm definitely thinking of taking the denim jacket. It's the same level of dressiness and I don't want to have the black blazer as the only option for the skirt outfits. I think I'm going to put it all together and see how much space it all takes before I finally decide.

Thanks Liz! :)

Right now I'm thinking of not taking the jeans at all but to add the plaid skirt instead. I looked for a belt today but didn't found anything nice that was also affordable. And if I take only skirts I could add my cropped blue denim jacket for outerwear which would look better than the "gear" jacket. Would take less space in the bag too... Having no pants/jeans isn't really an issue for me, it's definitely just as comfortable.

Another vote for #7. I'm quite possibly more conservative than Mr. G regarding skirt length, and that skirt does not even read as "short," much less as "too short." Especially with the dark tights.

Right. I forgot about that blue sweater being the lambswool--definitely not a spring sweater! And I'm happy to see I'm not the only one who is encouraging you to wear #7 at the conference. You have absolutely no reason to feel self-conscious about your legs from what I see in the picture. In fact, I think you ought to wear your bikini and your short skirts as often as is decently possible! :)

ETA: By the way, Mr. G wants to put his vote in for #7 as well. And, at 75, he's pretty conservative when it comes to how the young women in his classes are dressed.

Thanks Celia - you know, the skirt isn't that short I guess. Just shorter than I normally wear, speaking as someone who's always been self-conscious about the legs.

Thanks Gaylene! Very good points... I do think the light blue pullover should only be an additional option though, because compared to the navy merino pullover it's much warmer (Scottish lambswool). I can only wear that one if it's a cool day, the navy pullover with only a cami is still comfortable when it's sunny and warmer. I'll think about wearing the shorter skirt too, it might not be a problem after all. I guess I could play it safe on the first day and have a look what other people are wearing. And I do like #7 too, that's why it's the going out look.

I tend to agree with Elizabeth that the palette looks quite dark for the end of May, but I don't think that is an issue because I'm a big fan of black in any season. I do think, though, that the dress and skirt come across as very similar in the picture, although that might not be the case in real life. With that in mind, I'd probably do the following:

Pack the two skirts and the jeans. Pack one pullover and cardigan which could be worn with all three bottoms. (I'm partial to the blue pullover because you look so good in it and it offers a color alternative to the black cardigan.) Pack both T-shirts, the shirt, and blazer to complete the outfits. And take the lighter jacket, #10, on the idea that you'll be more likely to wear the jeans if it is rainy and will be more comfortable for walking
around.

For the conference wear the skirt and jacket one day, the skirt and pullover another day, the jeans and shirt on another day, and the jeans and pullover on the final day. I think you should also seriously consider wearing the shorter skirt outfit, #7, at the conference as well because that's my favourite of all the outfits you've posted above. It looks young, fresh, and modern, especially with the dark tights.

Anyway, not sure if that's helpful, but I have implicit faith in your ability to look stylish in whatever you decide to pack.

Thanks! Yes, those were my favourites as well. Definitely wearing the blazer for the conference and changing to the cardigan for off time. And yes, the striped pencil... Thing is it's woven and lined in cotton and rather snug, it doesn't work with hose. I don't think it's going to be warm enough for bare legs the whole day even when it's warm, so that one is out.

Thanks Celia! I don't want to wear the skirt from #7 at the conference, it's too short IMO and definitely accentuates the bum. I could wear the jeans, but not with the black blazer, which is a bit too cropped for it to look quite right. I would space it out and would not wear too similar looks on consecutive days, so something like black skirt, dress, black skirt and jeans. Oh and there are going to be a lot of people there and I won't be on stage but mostly just listening in, so having similar outfits doesn't bother me. The days of the conference I will mostly be inside, but I will be outside during travel, for sightseeing and on the weekend in Munich.

ETA

I could pack the button down below to have another outfit for the conference. The shirt doesn't work with the skirts though, it would be just for the jeans.

I can see #2,4,5,7 as conference wear.Would it be possible to wear the jeans with blazer and a shirt underneath so you could have 4 distinct outfits? I am a big fan of prints but for the outside looker 1,2,3,4 and 5,6 are not that different. What about another shirt for the skirt in #7? A lighter top would be lovely.
Regarding outwear,I understand that you don't want to wear #9 with skirts or dresses but how much time will you be outside that you will need a 'complete outfit' ?

Thanks Elizabeth! Well, when I take care to keep things versatile and mixable it always gets rather dark, I'm afraid. Oh and the new denim jacket didn't work out, or it would have been perfect for this. Re the dark hose, I do get cold legs and feet very easily. I can also buy some nude hose tomorrow though, so that I have that option. If it gets truly warm I can wear the taupe shoes with the black skirt and bare legs I guess.

Don't' really have time right now to "analyze" your choices, but my overall impression is that this capsule seems really dark and, well, un-springlike. Will you really want to wear dark hose at those temps? I'm bringing out the bare ankles at mid-late teens!

How about adding your new denim jacket? You have the black one for professional things, the denim would be great for casual or evenings.

It's a weekend with an old friend of mine, followed by a day of sightseeing and four days of conference. I'll be travelling Friday/Monday/Friday. So the goal is to look put together, ready for sightseeing and some party. And I will be spending a lot of hours sitting in busses...

#01/02
Conference wear? Just swapped the T-shirts. I also ordered the grey tee in navy, if it arrives in time I could add navy into the mix.

#03
With wool cardigan. More casual.

#04
Navy merino wool pullover. More conference wear?

#05/06
The flower dress both with the blazer and cardigan. More conference wear?

#07
Adding a second pair of shoes into the mix and my just taken in shorter skirt. Going out look?

#08
Adding the new pair of jeans and my warm scarf. Travel outfit? One problem with the jeans is that they give A LOT with some wear. I don't mind the slouchy look but I don't currently own a suitable belt. Maybe I should go buy one tomorrow.

Now there's the question what to do about outerwear. So far I only have the lightweight black blazer with cropped sleeves and the wool cardigan (if you count that as outerwear). Weather is supposed to be mixed, from 10°C to 22°C in the highs with some rain. But the weather forecast isn't really predictable yet. I can definitely add a lot of warmth with baselayers, layering hose and wearing wool undies.

#09
Rain jacket. Really only works well with the pants. Obviously waterproof, but also stuffy when it's warm.

#10
Windproof and water resistant. Not waterproof but more breathable. Also best with jeans, I don't really want to wear this or the rain jacket with the skirts.

Those of you who know my wardrobe might ask - what about that navy caban jacket? Well it's really too heavy to wear with these clothes. It's better for colder temperatures with a heavy pullover under it.

More pieces:

#11/12
A warm pullover. Might be overkill when I have the cardigan? And it might not be that cold. I could either take the green one or the light blue one.

#13
My plaid wool skirt. Probably also overkill and only a good option for colder temperatures, but it also works in any of the skirt outfits shown.

#14
Blues Brothers tee - for casual with the jeans and going out?

I know this was a lot, so if you made it to the end - thanks! Would love to hear your thoughts and if you have any ideas, suggest awway.
