I'm grateful for my muscular arms that allow me to play tennis and to paddle my kayak. I do not shy away from wearing sleeveless clothing that shows their strength and mine too.

I'm grateful for my skin, which is acne prone. I especially get nasty acne when I eat white sugar. (I can have other, healthier sweeteners.) If I didn't have this problem, it would be extremely difficult to say no to lots of sugary things, which would make me unhealthy.

I will also be grateful for my skin. It is very fair and doesn’t tan at all well, burns easily. In the 70s as a teenager that made me feel bad as not the fashionable tanned look of the time. But now I’m grateful because Mum made me wear hats as a child, and I’ve used sunblock to prevent burning, and now it’s in good condition for my age, not too many wrinkles, and no skin cancers as yet

I"m grateful for my freckles. I have fought them my entire life - my Dad was the first to call me freckle face, but certainly not the last. But, having them meant I was focused on moisturizer and sunscreen from a young age. Now that I'm older the freckles are helping hide other age spots!

Skin for me. I have psoriasis. Most of the time I don’t have any signs of it on me, however, if I get stressed or run down, I can get a flare up and get covered in spots similar to the measles on the trunk of my body. Whilst I hate it, I know to listen to my body and keep to a good diet and exercise routine and lots of sleep. My skin is my health barometer.

I'm grateful for my legs. They are short, and prone to cellulite if I don't work out like the dickens, and slightly saddle-bagged. And these days, I get twinges of arthritis in the knees. Still, my legs are strong, and they have taken me thousands and thousands of steps and many, many miles. Walking is my favourite way to get around and I also take great pleasure in it. My legs are good friends.

I will be grateful for my feet, which are normally what I complain about. They may not be able to wear all the cute shoes, but they are still holding me up and walking me around despite both having been crushed by a horse in my young years. They let me ballroom dance on them with more ease than they let me walk on them and they keep gaining in grace and balance. Thank you, feet.

Oh my, this one is hard. I guess I'm grateful for my statuesque physiqe. I'm very tall, broad shouldered, no tiny head on my shoulders, quite the opposite. I have never been small, cute, dainty. But I have always been very visible. Style and clothes is how I can control some of the aspects of how I'm on display, if that makes sense. I have a lifetime of experience of standing out in a crowd, literally speaking.

I'm grateful for my teeth, too, Suntiger. As a child, my mouth was a real mess. I had to have oral surgery and I wore traditional braces for three years, and a retainer for a long time afterwards. It was an uphill battle, but I ended up with a pretty good set of pearly whites (well, almost-white; I drink a lot of coffee). And I'm grateful that I had parents who could take on this monumental project! :)

Keeps me from snacking though!

Some wonderful stories, thank you all for sharing. Also Angie, I hope this doesn't sound too weird, but your head is perfect for you.

I'm grateful for my facial eczema, which I've had all my life. It's meant that mostly I haven't been able to wear any makeup. While I find that really annoying, it's also been a real self confidence boost to realise that some good people have considered my bare unvarnished face to be worth falling for.

I have grown up around women who pick themselves to pieces and who have spent so much money, time and energy on fixing their so called flaws. So, I'm grateful for my eczema. Unsightly and irritating as it is, it's also taught me I don't need to be perfect for others to want me.

I suspect this thread may be harder- but important! Its easy to say that we should have body positivity, but don't say how to not feel bad when society is saying "this is the standard of beauty". And the implied message is "the purpose of the body is to look nice."
Our bodies are not just decorative, they are designed to move and heal and work!

I am grateful for my arms. They are big, spotted and veiny with sagging, crepey flesh, and I have long been self-conscious about them. But they are strong, and allow me to do so many of the things I most enjoy in life: paint, cook, dance, write, make things, carry things, hold loved ones. Thanks, arms!

I have deep gratitude for my hips and legs, even though I don’t love how they look (I’ve bemoaned my wide hips and hefty thighs since I was a teenager). When I was born, my hip joints were not fully fused (dysplasia), and I wore a brace for the first few months of my life. So really, I am very thankful that my hips and legs work so well that I can do all the things I do. They are strong and healthy even though they are not slim and pretty, and for that I am thankful.

I can think of a few...
I’ve always felt lacking in the chest department, ever since my little sister needed a bigger bra then me :). But these days I can feel gratitude for my A-cup: I have no (amplified) back pain, can easily wear crew and turtlenecks, and can pick bras purely for comfort and esthetics. I also rarely get inappropriate looks as there’s just nothing to check out there :).

For me it's also my skin! I normally don't like it much because I'm always pale, don't tan, get sunburned very easily and am blemish-prone even as an adult (same as my father). But I'm very grateful all the same, because I had neurodermatitis as a child and now my skin is so much healthier in comparison! No more medical problems, just cosmetical.

You are on a gratitude roll :)
For me it is my skin - I had terrible acne when I was a teen that left deep scars on my cheeks. I was never happy with my skin. But now at almost 50 I still don’t have wrinkles so there is something positive about my skin type.
