It doesn't matter if it is anyone else's style. I think the zipper is a great trade-off for a belt that doesn't work for you (it provides defintion in the middle like a belt would), and I really like the difference between the quilting on the body and the sleeves. The length is perfect, and I would actually see if you could have a thumb-hole put into each sleeve instead of shortening them.
