I'm glad the unanimous opinion was to keep the dress, and I appreciate the encouragement to keep trying it in different ways. I took the tags off and actually wore it to work on Thursday with black leggings, black boots, a black long-sleeve tee underneath, and the gray cardigan. (Maya's LBD and Marianne's denim leggings are the other two purchases that haven't arrived yet.)</p> <p>First on trial is this checked dress, which I envisioned wearing over either skinny jeans or leggings, sort of like a dressy tunic. It is much less waist-defining than anything else I own, and it skims nicely over my bust and hips without pulling. I love the beautiful fabric, but the shape/style is a bit different and more voluminous than what I'm used to. (The cap sleeves don't bother me, though.) I'm also paranoid that it looks good to my eyes only because I so badly *want* it to work.</p> <p>I tried it with a few different outfits that came to mind so I could get a good sense of how it would function within my wardrobe.
