Ket--I think that is my favorite part--"hey, I buttoned two shirts together," so I would totally pick two different shirts. Reminds me of when people make skirts and dresses out of neck ties.

aloha emily--that probably is true in real life. but on a runway, it would probably look cool!

Firecracker--I love the two shirts being different, and I agree to find some kind of set. Like maybe a pinstripe on one side, and a classic stripe on the other.

I like the idea, and I like the look of the collars as the waistband. Like aloha emily, I would want to remove the sleeves. Or perhaps tuck them to the inside. It doesn't bother me that the shirts are obviously different; I think that's kind of cool. I would choose some kind of coordination between the shirts, as I would if I were pattern-mixing in an outfit.

It looks cute in the pic! But I think walking with random extra sleeves flapping around would make me feel ridiculous.

I think this could be really fun to experiment with! I do agree Janet that I would want same or similar colored shirts. Otherwise, to me, it feels like "hey, I buttoned two shirts together". I've seen a lot of interesting hacks for men's dress shirts. I should see out a nice big one and play! Thanks for some inspiration!

Jaime--there really are a lot of men's shirts. I need to try it!
Lisa--I do like that detail--I like active wear lately.

The deep v at the waist from the two shirts is a fun detail. It reminds me of the deep v I sometimes see in activewear with leggings.

The link didn't work but I feel like I have seen something like this somewhere. Anyway, I think it is a great way to upcycle the endless supply of men's shirts one can thrift - there are some great colors and prints to be found.

I think it is on TikTok, too, but I cannot find the video for the life of me. However, if you search "make a skirt from two shirts," lots of similar videos come up.

Link doesn’t work for me. It’s kinda cute in the screenshot, but I think with two different patterns it’s too obvious they are shirts buttoned together. Also kinda curious to see what the back looks like. Maybe the video gives more.

Hopefully everyone can see this video, if not, let me know.

Dress shirts, shirt dresses...how about a shirt skirt?

This craft is easy enough that I will try it if I remember the next time I am at the thrift store. I think hers looks fabulous, but some people think it's dumb. What do you think?
