Opposite of Angie, when it is cool, I NEED pajamas. I especially like plaid. I have to have calf coverage.

In summer, I prefer nightshirts... You know, like a shirt that is tunic length or a t'shirt ditto? And I need a cotton sheet to cover my calves at that point. And yes, there must be sleeves, ideally below the elbow.

These are my preferences. But I often end up in a kaftan or the dreaded 'nightie' because this is where the last of budget allocation goes.

This thread is great; I've been wanting to update my sleepwear. I like to get up early and take my mornings slow, including reading, gardening, exercise and breakfast before I shower and get ready for the day. I feel most comfortable in a cami with shelf bra and either cotton shorts or yoga pants, both for sleeping and lounging. I have three sons who are getting older, so the cute/sexy stuff has to stay in the bedroom only! :)

I cannot sleep in long pants. Drives me up the wall. I sleep in little boy shorts and a tee. Then I wear bright fun sweats as a robe - they goe over my pjs very comfortably.

Lightweight cotton PJ's in summer, flannel PJ's in winter.

But I don't lounge in my PJ's. I get dressed as soon as I get up in the morning and don't put on my PJ's until bedtime.

I love to look at and receiving pretty sleepwear as gifts, but I very often default to my super soft, aged flannel pants and cotton tee-shirts. Nighties are something I never wear... Can't deal the stuff riding and rolling up as I move in the night. I used to often sleep in my birthday suit but that changed when we had kids... Somehow the pajama drill was more comfy in pajamas!

Great thread, dustt. I love reading about everyone's choices. I am strictly a PJ woman, which is funny because up until about 15 years ago, I only wore nightgowns. I don't know what I was thinking. I like soft and comfy. In the winter, I typically wear flannel bottoms and some kind of nice quality long-sleeve tee on top. In the summer, I go lighter weight on both and move to poplin or something like that for the bottoms and short sleeves or tanks for the tops. I also like modal or nice quality knitwear, though, for a change.

I change out of my sleepwear almost as soon as I get out of bed in the morning. I'm out with my dog early, and I dislike wearing my pajamas and most loungewear to walk with him. I prefer to pull on my jeans (or shorts) and a sweater or something. That's probably weird.

I'm a cheapskate when it comes to sleepwear. I wear a cotton nightie (usually spaghetti strap or short sleeve). I rotate between 2 until they literally.fall.apart or are so riddled with holes that DH comments....then I search around La Senza or La Vie En Rose for the cheapest cotton replacement (usually $12) and bring it on board for the next few years. Lol.

I used to love to sleep only in my Chanel No5 - but 2 life events - living in the dorms in college and gravity in the bust area and some pretty meaty thighs had me re-evaluate comfort - so now its a minimum of a cami with a shelf bra and shorts so my legs don't stick when it's hot!! - I too started wearing more sleepwear when my girls reached an age where they started commenting. That being said my oldest, now 26, still sleeps in the buff and shows little to no modesty when she comes home for a visit.

and Kiwi - those are some awesome colorful PJ pants!! I'm noticing a bit of the coordinated sweatshirt too!!

Me, Joy, Echo & Marilyn Monroe ;-)

"You know they ask you questions," Monroe said during an April 1960 interview with French journalist Georges Belmont. "Just an example: 'What do you wear to bed? Do you wear a pajama top, the bottoms of the pajamas, or a nightgown?' So I said, 'Chanel No. 5!' Because it's the truth! And yet I don't want to say 'nude,' you know? But it's the truth."

Overall, I've never been comfortable wearing clothes to bed, either, Joy. It's just too much fabric against fabric, making it hard to move. But I wear chemise and robe sets currently, mainly because they function well as comfortable things to wear when I get up and make breakfast for the kids. The robe makes things modest enough that I don't have to change first thing when I wake up.

In the winter I sleep in my birthday suit and wear a floor lenght fuzzy robe that zips up the front when I get up. Again, it is modest and comfortable enough that I can get the kids ready and make breakfast for them without having to change until we leave the house.

these all really great options!! - here is my go to spot for really nice pjs - winter and summer - the willow knit bamboo knit is silky soft - breathable and cool winter and summer - I wear the woven capris with the empire tank in the sping and summer - or the linen sets - longer sleeves in the fall and winter

I've never been a fan of the oversized tee. Maybe because I'm petite, but I always felt there was too much fabric to be comfortable. I'm against nightgowns for the same reason.

When it's cold, I usually wear flannel plaid pajama pants from Old Navy or Target and a fitted long-sleeved tee. I don't always match them, but some of them do match. I'll throw on a hoodie for extra warmth as needed. When it's warmer, I switch to cotton pants or capris and in the height of summer, a tank top.

When it's warmer I prefer chemise-style nightgowns in some type of jersey fabric (must be above the knee short, longer gets tangled up when I sleep, which I hate). They are both comfy and cute. Something like this, for example.
http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/dk.....h-personal

When it's too cold for those, I wear flannel PJs from Victoria's secret. My current ones are baby pink with a toile pattern featuring big cats. Not currently available (I think it's a winter only thing) but this is them:
http://www.victoriassecret.com.....ogueType=O

I prefer the chemises (don't really like to wear pants to bed) but sometimes it's just too cold. Sometimes I'll toss on a long waterfall-style cardigan or a zip up hoodie over it in the morning. I prefer to wear dresses rather than pants as loungewear too.

On weekends I wear my sleepwear longer than I should (and it may involve going outside for the paper) so it has to at least cover me. I prefer pj pants - flannel in winter, cotton or knit in warmer weather. I have to wear a shelf bra cami for support and then a tee over that. I do have to coordinate, but a lot of my bottoms are crazy print bottoms from Old Navy or Nautica and tops are Gap body tees (Modal is so nice and soft and helps with temp fluctuations). I have a few "nice" pjs. I like the Carol Hochman fabric (Sierra Trading post has them cheap sometimes), Nordstrom knit and Josie (Natori).

Comfort first, meaning warmth in winter. Confession: I frequently wore a Cuddl Duds hoodie for sleeping this past winter and started actually wearing the hood. I felt quite non fashionable but noticed a big difference in comfort when my head was covered. (We keep the house temperature relatively cool at night.) Hey, people used to wear nightcaps, right?!

I like sleepwear which make me feel non frumpy. When I have the occasional night away with girlfriends and someone compliments my sleepwear, that's nice.

dustt - I take the sleep/lounge capsule uber seriously since I have dogs and I have to be able to be out with them. I also run cold in all seasons. I wear danskin black leggings a black gap ribbed tank and a gap black tunic length sweatshirt, I have two different styles. I wear black capri leggings, black tank and a sleeveless gray tunic sweatshirt also old gap in summer. Merrell moc fleecey lined mocs with socks in winter and merrell moc breeze in summer. Always comfy and if the neighbors see me with the pups or at the mail box, then I'm still good. When I had my son, I decided that if I can't show up in the ER in it or be seen outside in it, I was not going to wear it. Call it paranoia but it works for me!!

Well, I coordinate my sleepwear to my bedroom colour scheme so that should tell you something. My current have brands are "Midnight" by Carol Hochmann which I often find on discount at Winners and Bodas which I order from Net a Porter because I can't find it anywhere else. I love the thin woven cotton they use. Gets better with age. I've also had good luck with P.J. Salvage, Bed Head, Oscar de La Renta, DKNY and Natori.

Can't stand to have my legs covered by pant legs, or waist constricted by elastic. I always wear a nightgown. Cotton or modal. My favorite is by splendid.

Here is a confession - I have some PJ's from Lerner's in the late 80's that I've been wearing all week. They are pristine 25+ years later. Can't say as much for the recent rayon pairs I got at TJ Maxx. They are certainly very soft, but not very durable.

Thirding PJ Salvage. I also have a couple of Shimera PJ pants and shorts that I wear with simple cotton tank tops (from Target usually). I still have some nice Natori pajamas that have lasted me for years. The older I get, the less I need really warm sleepwear -- I wake up in the middle of the night roasting if I wear flannel anymore.
