We had a What’s App call with my daughter and hubby in the Lafayette area of the Bay Area 2 days ago. They are well but stuck inside mostly with smoke too, no evacuations close to them though.<br /> But her hubby has just landed a 3-month architecture job which might become permanent if it goes well! Since they couldn’t go to live in Vietnam for a while this year as previously planned this is a very good thing.<br /> Luckily I got both the dentist and the hygienist in when we were in the mostly Covid-free time here, before our recent second wave which has my city (our largest) in another lockdown. This is one of my favorite outfits of yours.</p> <p>I had a similar routine at the dentist--rinse with hydrogen peroxide, and no flossing. There technically wasn't supposed to be any polishing either, but I had some difficult stains to get off completely, and so the hygienist said she was going to go "old school" and put the polish on some gauze and rub it over the teeth. She said that is how they did it in the old days when she was first learning how to be a hygienist. There of course isn't any aerosolization that way, so it is safer. Also, a friend of mine had a pretty traumatic childhood with a pretty disfunctional (he says) family in the Bay Area, so i was dismayed to see how much they are being affected. He tends to worry himself sick about them, then try to be a strong guy who doesn’t feel pain. With no AC, we rely on our cool nights to stay comfy, but now we can’t leave the widows open. They specifically said that no one was to be in the waiting room and someone driving you could not wait in the office. The waiting room was full of people without masks waiting for people. The lady who cleaned my teeth wore one of those face guard hats. It was open at the bottom. I had to take off my mask for her to clean my teeth, so she was breathing and coughing on me as the open face shield opening was right above me. Then she kept taking the whole thing off. I did not feel at all safe. Plus one had to grab and pull a door handle to get in the building and climb steep steps to the second floor. Anyone my age would be touching the railing and no hand sanitizer was offered. I wish I had walked out.<br /> You look stunning in that outfit. So pretty with your hair. I need to call two doctor’s tomorrow to set up appointments for eyes and a diabetes check. If not, I can:t get meds refilled. The person you talk to on the phone has no clue what the office is really like. If there is a policy, it may not be enforced.<br /> I have a cough now that I think/ hope is only due to all the smoke in the air and not a virus symptom. I understand the horror of having to stay in with the smoke. We have not seen the sun for at least a week. Please send the rain this way to clear the air. I laughed at your locust comment as they are eating our roses and clematis. A big outbreak of locusts has been predicted but seems worst in Asia this year. Y parents, who went thourgh a lot, talked only about the horrors of the dust bowl and the clouds of locusts. We have cases of West Nile Virus and positive tests on mosquitos on a trail near-by. Yuk!
