Squirmy & crappy! For some reason when things got hectic in my life I'd start trying new combos of clothing I wouldn't normally wear or worse still buying things I wouldn't usually buy. I put it down to some kind of stress induced loss of sanity or perhaps an attempt at proving "things can always be worse". I can also relate to the frump factor of (most) cardigans - I always think it is to do with the size of my bust.

I agree. I have a core set of outfits on repeat that I wear often and are the first combinations I grab on rush days. I save new outfit combinations for when I "play" in my closet on weekends.

This is interesting and helpful. I was just starting to feel my cardigans were getting frumpy- and I guess this thread is confirming it. And when I worked in an office this past year, I would absolutely be driven batty by an 'off' outfit. It usually happened with layering that didn't work- being distracted by weird bunching is the worst. Or maybe the worst is pants that no longer fit well for sitting all day. No fun.

Totally can relate to both the squirmy feeling and the frump factor in cardigans. I have like 4 of them and have barely worn any. What WAS I thinking? I need to get rid of them, they are still taking up space in my closet.

Sympathies. I know this unpleasant, twitchy, want-to-tear-it-off feeling all too well. Really gets me grumpy when I *know* I'm dressed 'wrong' but have no time to right it!

This happened to me yesterday with a cardigan, too! The problem was a yet or two ago it would have been a FFBO, but it just isn't me anymore. I need to write down my new formulas, à la Aida. Trouser jeans + soft blouse + structured jacket .....

Days like that aren't fun. I sympathize. All my days have been so rushed lately that I'm relieved I didn't end up at the office without pants on

Oh I can relate! There have been frumpy days when I've decided I don't like my outfit, and I usually am wearing something I would have worn in past seasons but now it just doesn't seem to fit my current style. And yes, it makes me feel antsy, squirmy, and anxious to get home and get out of those clothes! UGH!
But never fear, tomorrow you will be back to your awesome fashionista self!

Ugh. Totally hear you. I really get squirmy.

Working at home I can change, so I am lucky. But it's most likely to happen when I actually have to BE somewhere, you know? Maybe because I'm not wearing the FFB in those situations.

Hope you are feeling better.

Felt the same way today wearing some pieces I'd not worn for awhile. I was out holiday shopping and got compliments from SAs (Are they told to compliment customers??). The problem piece is an older silk black/white polkadot blouse. It needed more structure and should be replaced. You are probably also feeling the need for the structure of a jacket.

This is interesting, because you're wearing your own clothes but they don't "communicate" who and what you are right now. Don't worry, you get to choose again tomorrow!

I got dressed in a huge thoughtless rush, in order to get my friend to the doctor and DS to school before getting to the office. And oh, am I sorry. I'm wearing slouchy black pants, the Equipment emerald snake shirt, and a black cashmere cardigan. (Forgot my shoes so DH is bringing them from home this afternoon as he had to stay home to meet the contractor. I'm in winter boots.)

Problem? I feel frumpy. Cardigans are no longer me. This is something I would have worn by default three years ago. Don't like a full tuck but can't make it work with the cardi otherwise. Too matchy and conservative. My favorite item, the shirt, is mostly hidden. Hate the feeling of lumpy long sleeves layered and scrunched.

Lesson learned - always rely on a FFBO when things get rushed!
