I think you look good in all of these! I think #2 actually works really well because the scarf seems to coordinate with the neutral base while also bringing a bit of color in. I also love your jewelry!

And I definitely understand how hard it is to work something new into your wardrobe. I think it's sometimes especially difficult when it's something that seems like a no-brainer basic, but somehow isn't.

More love here for look 3, but I also like outfit 1 for a quick errand and think you'll be happy with it for other purposes after a few tweaks. I like my simple black top and olive jeans with an animal print scarf or tortoiseshell jewelry. Another fave was my zebra print flats (off-white and muted black), recently purged.

3 is my favourite too! They all work really well though. The jewelry in 2 looks especially fab! I want to see that locket even bigger. *greedy*

Haha to your last comment: I tend to buy variations on a theme rather than truly new things, so usually I can incorporate things pretty seamlessly. I did pick up a red skirt a few weeks ago that's brighter than my usual, and I definitely had to play dress up to figure out which tops paired with it though!

Very nice! Why did you find it hard to work in the olive pants? Is it the color? I don't think it goes with everything, it's like brown. I think your purples will be lovely with it. Also have you any mustard?

Another pick for 3 as favorite. I agree, it's crazy (but a times fun) playing around with new pieces.
I have olive cargo pants that I wear to death. I actually think they work as a neutral. I like pairing them with bright tops. Blue, purple and red work really well. As does of course black and also brown.

Nice job! I'd like to replace my own olive pants, but it can wait. What about tying the scarf in #2 so it is more of an infinity scarf? Less to fuss with that way.

So today starts my no blue jeans December. I'm still working on styling the olive pants.

1 - Worn Wednesday to run errands and grab some last minute turkey day supplies - black T, black buckle boots, and old casual coat (it's actually my field coat). I was fairly happy with this for casual, but wanted more texture and interest for my next try.

2) What I put on this morning to drive from our little house on the prairie down to my apartment for a week of work. Grey T, same black buckle boots, and floral silk scarf. Also worn with my "book of spells" locket necklace and some dangly earrings. This felt fussy (I knew that scarf wasn't gonna stay put), and I wasn't happy with the colors in the scarf.

3) Once I got to my apartment and the majority of my wardrobe, I swapped out the black boots for more gracile grey suede booties. I have a student meeting this afternoon, so wanted a blazer - grabbed this old grey one, and then the only scarf lightweight scarf I have with grey in it is this light purple silk number that actually matches the lining of the jacket, for secret matchy matchy happiness. Same necklace, but swapped out the earrings for these dangling amethyst and sterling silver ones, which clearly need to be shined. Also lipstick to distract from my eyes which are puffy and weeping (damn sinuses).

Well if you read all that, thank you! I'm pretty pleased with the final effort, and now I'm off to the museum to work for the afternoon.

Isn't it ridiculous how much effort it takes to incorporate something new into your existing style?!
