Just got back from the seamstress and she was kind enough to take it back, and let the tapering out again. There was enough seam allowance there. She must have noticed how worried I looked and told me to relax and enjoy my long weekend. Thanks for your responses and Angie, I should have paid attention to your comments on my original thread.
Off course, I had to pay extra for tapering which is non-refundable but if my pants return to their original fit, I don't care.

Good thing to go back with them AND the before/after pics. Leave the pics with her as she makes the correction. A good tailor will have enough seam allowance left to make an adjustment - they know the customer might not be satisfied. . .

(That said, I better put my own altered dress into the car, so they can fix the wonky hip seam from their altering . . . ;-))

I liked them just the way they were, with a little hem shortening to offset the bulk of the roll. I'm sorry, Mona. Let us know what the seamstress can do to loosen them up again.

It would be great if there is room to let the thigh back out a little. To be honest I find pant fitting much more complicated these days. An ill fit is kind of the look but it has to be ill-fitting in the right way? It's tricky, but it also means there is more leeway.

Oh - so frustrating. Yes, I hope she can undo the taper from the thigh area. Sometimes I find that the seamstress I use in Kingston doesn't quite understand my instructions because she is not the most fashion forward, so she thinks I am crazy when I make a request (except for simple hemming or sleeve shortening). Even sometimes with hemming she has different ideas about PPL and I have to be quite firm! On the whole she has done a good job with things but once or twice there has been a malfunction, so I know how this feels. URGH!!!

They can be saved if she didn't trim off the excess fabric. Take your pics to the seamstress and show her what is happening.

Oh, so she tapered them from the thighs? That would explain the creasing. When my mom tapers pants for me it is always from the knee down.
I think it will not hurt to undo the upper seams - it looks you are not comfortable in them now anyway.

yes, I am planning to go back to her today and ask if she can loosen them a little bit. This is soooo annoying.
I agree with you that a lot of people would gladly wear them as is.

You would have to tighten the belt maybe... But you would lose the look you want. And I love your semi tuck looks. I don't think this is so terrible as is, a lot of people would probably wear 'em that way. But I've always struggled with khakis and rise issues so I know how you feel. Can you go back to the seamstress and show her?

Jules, I tried hitching up the belt but it does not stay up. I can wear it with longer tops but I really like to semi tuck to show the belt so it is important that crotch area does not look like this.

Can the belt be hitched up a bit? Sometimes that helps.
Other than the crotch creases, I really like the look. Could you wear them with longer tops? Frustrating to not get exactly what you wanted after alterations.

Ceit, I am thinking about undoing the stitch that the seamstress put on around thighs. Perhaps the tapering should only start around knees. I got these on discount too but the cost of alteration was almost the same as the cost of pants. :(
These were tall as the rise in regular was too short for me and the same creasing issue was there.

It almost looks like the rise is too long now, that the legs are tighter they can't slouch down.

I think they are 50% off at Gap if you wanted to get a different pair to try -- were those regular length or petites or talls?

Sorry these have been so frustrating for you.

I got the olive khakis tapered a little bit but I think now they are too tight. What do you guys think? Should I loosen them again? The first pic is how they were originally. The next two is after the alteration. I had them shorten and tapered a little bit. Because of the tightening in legs, there are weird crotch creases now. I am getting really annoyed at myself. PLease tell me they can be saved.
The top in 2 & 3 is new and the pointy pumps are several years old. I just put them on to see how the vibe changes before dumping them.
