The white is a great colour on you and has a more cropped look that works well with today’s silhouettes. But the cream is a bit more unique in my opinion. The pattern is really beautiful, a bit like a tie dye, and the drape is lovely.</p> <p>I don’t think the new shoes are as chunky as the older shoes. So not really a replacement. That said, I like them. I think the patent adds textural interest. If you kept them, do you think you would still end up looking for other black chunky sandals? It just occurred to me to compare the two tops. I think I last wore the old one on a resort vacation, oh, four years ago? I’m reluctant to let it go for some reason, maybe because it is unique and I may feel it again in time (I even wondered if it could be gently “bleached” to make it whiter). But it sounds like the new white lace top is a winner with the proper styling. </p> <p>Bijou, yes, I do have denim cutoffs but they don’t often leave the house. My legs above the knee are not my best feature, but sometimes in the heat of summer I just say f*** it and wear them anyway. ;-D I also have old jeans that I cut off and rolled into a clamdigger length, and I could see wearing this with those and white sandals. Easy and casual. I bought a new white tank too, so I could layer the lace top over white as well. Strangely enough, I think the top works better on me with a visible layer underneath than the nude. Maybe nude is better on a skinny young thing than my middle aged self! LOL</p> <p>I’m looking at the sandals again this morning and don’t mind the patent so much. In fact I used to have black patent sandals that were long-time favorites! I could try the black versions of the Seychelles too, just to compare and be sure, but I do like the idea of a little variety. Looking at the photos with the Arche sandals, I’m feeling pretty over them. I may keep them for occasions when I know they’ll get beat up because they are comfortable and rugged. I do like the optic white and cut of the new top better. I actually like how the older one falls on you but don't love the sleeves - they aren't clean cut like the first one. I think I would order the Seychelles to compare - the DPs are good but not as absolutely perfect as for example the All Saints. I decided to try it on again tonight, this time with grey Niki Lotan chinos and a black tank. I discovered it does successfully semi-tuck, and I think I like it better that way.</p> <p>I decided to pull out a very old crochet top (pics 3-4) also from Anthro a million years ago (it may precede my YLF introduction). I wore it when I was thinner and have been kind of avoiding it now that I’m heavier because it’s a little on the clingy side. However, in the photos it looks better than I thought it did. It’s not as good a color on me or quite as versatile in my wardrobe — cream rather than bright white — but what do you think about these two tops, compared to one another? The vibe is different between the two, but I would style them similarly. Opinions?</p> <p>Also, I decided to try these black slightly-gladiatorish Donald Pliner sandals in photos 5-7. I was thinking of adding a slightly more substantial black sandal to my wardrobe. My old Arche ones (pics 8-9) are currently my “chunky” black sandals and I’m not feeling as fab in them these days. I also have black strappy flat AllSaints sandals (pics 10-11) but I like them with long skirts and not really with pants or shorts — they don’t quite have the visual weight I am seeking with some outfits. </p> <p>The Pliners are pretty comfortable and the straps adjust so that they fit securely on my feet in the tightest position. I’m not sure I *love* the patent portion? But I do like the overall style. What do y’all think of the Pliners as a possible replacement for the old Arche sandals? Or should I try the black version of the Seychelles fisherman sandals? I don’t know if I want to duplicate the style exactly but wouldn’t rule it out. I do wear my sandals for several seasons at least so I would want them to look current for a while. </p> <p>Thanks in advance! </p>
