I just thought about that skirt some more... I had a vague feeling that perhaps it was my younger sister's first. I remembered that from some time in her teens I started inheriting some of her clothing instead of the other way around. And looking back, the first garment of hers that happened with was in 1980, when she was 14 and I was 19. I wore that black skirt of hers from 1980-something until 1997! And I have just checked, that gored skirt was indeed hers, she wore it to my 21st when she was 16, then later I got it and wore it for some years. I am not entirely sure why this started to happen. She is taller than me so maybe at some stage she was a bigger size than me as she continued to grow- she did also seem to tire of clothing sooner than I did and as I had a 6-year university degree perhaps I was more thrifty in those years and liked to keep her clothes which were free to me! I know I loved both those skirts of hers I inherited.&nbsp;<br />Your new rainbow pleated skirt is gorgeous.I love to re-live clothing that reminds me of other clothing, have done it for decades. In fact I think my red, black and white patterned Laura Ashley skirt from 2010 perhaps reminded me of that gored 1982 skirt of my sister's. The white blouse in #3- In the late 80's when I was a teen, I had one almost the same. It was my favorite, I wore it into the ground. Isn’t it great how we can like something still 40 years on? Of course I was an NZ size 8-10 ( US 4-6) then and a NZ 12-14 ( US 8-10) now, so I wouldn’t fit any of it. I do look a lot like my mother, who was 55-58 in these pics, now I think- I am now 59. That dress your Mum is wearing in #5--so typical of what I think of this era--full skirt with a flounce or ruffle, full sleeves. </p> <p>This was also the era of "natural" to counteract the polyester. The white muslin dress in #2--you were so cute! As was your date! Natural fabrics, muslin, eyelet, cotton, certain prints.&nbsp;</p> <p>And the Hawaiian shirt!
