Alas, I don't own any denim shorts, though I'm trying to rectify that. The ON ones look nice from the front but the waist was large enough in the back for me to stick my whole hand in. I have an apple belly in the front and a curvy butt with nonexistent hips--makes it very difficult to shop for pants.

I love this with the dark denim shorts you have on, and it would be nice untucked, too! I'll have to check out the blue gingham one. I've been looking for one all season!

I think it's super cute, but I warn you, I'm a sucker for gingham. I would pair untucked with white bermudas. Or add a belt to the outfit you post above. You could also wear with emerald or purple.

Orange and navy are a match made in heaven. As a matter of fact, orange with blue in any shade looks fantastic to me.

Other good pairings: white, cream, beige, and if you want to be bold, try orange with red or orange with pink or orange with purple.

If you are drawn to this top and color, why not try it out? Sometimes a piece calls to us and it is the start of a new style journey, or at least a style refresher. The orange color is flattering on you.

I love orange with navy. If you want something to wear with jewel tones, I would think of magenta. Orange could work in some situations though. I really like this top on you, FWIW.

I have several white skirts, but most of them are actually cream and I don't think would match the white of the gingham pattern... does that matter?

The blue gingham was also very pretty and much more my "usual" color, but for some reason I was drawn to the orange. Please let me know how your shirt washes/wears!

The orange is fun! I just bought the same shirt in blue gingham but I have more cool tones and that sort of blue in my closet. Orange would look great with yellow, green, plain old denim, white, solid red bottoms, and I am sure about 5 more shades that are escaping me. Old Navy always sends email coupons so if you aren't signed up for their promos, that might be an option although it will be one a day to your spam mail.

I went shopping today and popped into Old Navy to browse, ended up trying on quite a pile of clothes. They seem to be stepping things up a notch, because last season I had a Groupon and barely found anything worth trying on.

I was looking for shorts but didn't find the right fit. Instead, I unexpectedly loved this orange check button-down. I'm pretty sure it's the "red check" online, because it reads as red in my photo too... in person, definitely orange. Quite similar to J.Crew's modern red, actually.

How does the fit look? Physically it's lightweight--of questionable quality?--and I have some extra room in the bust when I move, but being a thick-waisted 32A means I *always* have room in the bust. Didn't buy because I thought the material wasn't worth the full price of $25. More like $15.

And, styling: what can I pair an orange gingham shirt with? It's getting too hot to wear jeans, and I only have one pair of shorts right now. Skirts and dresses galore, but since I've gravitated to cool jewel tones for my entire life minus the past six months, it's hard for me to visualize orange in the mix. I love the tucked-in look on others, but with low-rise bottoms on me it just emphasizes the apple part of my apple/rectangle tendencies. I'm not afraid to pattern mix and clash colors, but will sometimes err on the side of too maximal.

Maybe I'm just yearning for a gingham shirt... they feel so quintessentially summer. If not orange, what colors of gingham check might pair well with purple/teal/cobalt blue/magenta/red?
