I had a pair of boots a lot like those -- also Franco Sarto -- in the late 1990s/early 2000s. (Mine were camel). I too loved mine, and wore them a lot. But the thin stretchy leather shaft eventually looked very dated to me, and the narrow squared-off toe didn't help matters, so I got rid of them. I'm going to say the same thing for yours. I bet they were great at the time, but now they need a new home.

Love the color, not sold on the shape of the toe. Also, you are not loving the idea of wearing them.

I would let them go and make room for a new pair you love.

Sigh. I have 3 pair of black boots/booties with this snipped square toe, although mine were purchased about 2 years ago. They're looking a little off to me too, but I'm likely to have trouble fitting them in my budget and finding good replacements.

I do think that burgundy looks fresh to my eye, and I've always loved this tone in leather. Remember all the Aigner in the late 70s and 80s?

Well as much as I hate to say it, I think you have made the right decision to let these guys go. They are good boots, and I can see why you wore them a lot. The heel is current, but the toe is not. I have seen this heel lately, for example on some Hispanitas, but the toe is more important to look current. That's what drives me nuts about fashion! One minute it looks amazing, the next, you're embarrassed to be seen! WTF?...

They are lovely boots but something is saying to me, pass them on. I can't put my finger on it, but there is something about them that does suggest they are a little dated and perhaps not quite a 10 for your wardrobe.

I think I had these same boots in black and loved them to death. I don't think they are 10s anymore, but wearable. I'm much preferring burgundy in suede for boots this year.
Not pointy, but I like these
http://www.sundancecatalog.com.....y=ourPicks

eh eh jurocha I understand you, I'm a 34/35 European size and it's such a pain!

Burgundy is everywhere this season, pointy toes also, so, I don't know how, but this boot seems a bit dated to my eye. I guess pointy toes are back but the shape is different (not so pointy)

Another one thinking "send them to me". I am surprised you decided to let them go. As a 35/36 European Size (36 is already me using shoes bigger and ruining my future in name of options/easiness to find), I always value boots with elegant heels...

I think I will let these go. I would love tall burgundy boots but I'm not excited to wear these. They had their time. Thanks for helping me pinpoint my hesitation!

They don't look painfully dated to me at all. I think there are new shoes out there with that heel. Keep if you need a support piece but not if you want the star of the show?

A beautiful shoe in their own way. I was thinking "send them to me."

But they don't add any Now to a look, and I think you're looking for that. You don't seem to be that excited about them, more like fond of the years they served you well and were of that moment.

If you're not looking at them and longing for cool enough weather to pull them on and trot out in them, I would make room for something else. Or just make room.

I can see why you wore them so much, but I think their time is past especially given that you have lots of options. The snip toe, the shape of the heel, the ripples at the ankles--you can do better. Even the particular shade of burgundy doesn't seem current to me.

I'll leave the analysis to the experts, but I like these on you. No idea if they look dated this season.
They look a little like these:

I can see how these would fall into the category of current, technically. They do have the streamlined look, and pointy toe. But there is something about the toe I really don't like. It's like elongated, pointy, and looks sort of witchy. I think you should treat yourself to new fall boots!

Doing a little pre-fall closet cleaning and ran across some old things I haven't worn in years but kept for various reasons.

I kept these Franco Sarto burgundy boots because I love the color, they're comfy, and they held up beautifully even though I wore them a lot. They mostly got worn with bootcut jeans & trousers, this was probably 6-7 years ago?

Pointy toes and more delicate heels and soles are coming back around, but I'm not sure these look current. The toe shape gives me pause.

What do you think? Keep or donate? If keep, how would you style them for maximum current style?
