No tarps or anything. First week of September. I woke up really early in the morning to a very unexpected noise and realized it was <i>pouring</i> rain outside. I was sort of stupefied for a minute and then I jumped up and ran down the hall to my roommate's room (in that wing of the building). Water was pouring through the hall ceiling (which was redwood planks, oddly) and there were already a few inches on the floor. I banged on his door until he woke up. His ceiling was drywall and it held up for long enough for us to pull out his computer and a few other things. Water was coming through the light fixture the whole time, and then eventually the whole ceiling gave way.</p> <p>So it does rain in September sometimes, whether the roofers know it or not!</p> <p>In the end his things were fine -- we pulled out his drywall-covered mattress before any water could soak in. And his books were all in a corder of the room that still had a roof over it. There was a tiny high water mark on the redwood baseboards, sadly -- that house was so beautiful. I don't think anyone would really notice but it was sad to see it damaged. (I still can't believe how lucky we were to find that place, and for less than usual, too.
