Hi Fashiontern sorry I didn't see this til now. It's Jenni with an i BTW. It wasn't me who didn't like the spaghetti straps on you. The black dress though looks more like a slip to me. I suppose it is a slip dress. I don't wear spaghetti strap camis any more for anyone to see. I prefer sleeveless tanks in summer( or singlets as we often call them here ) with a wider shoulder strap that covers bras and seems better balanced now that I am so apple shaped and wide across the backside. Now with all your weight loss the balance question doesn't seem to apply to you?

Rachylou, our flight is in the morning, which is good because we STILL haven't gotten our stuff out of our neighbor's garage. Its completely unrelated to the trip, she just happens to need it out now, and has been very gracious about the way it's either been raining or crazy hot lately. (Usually summer mornings are bearable, but that's when it's been raining lately. And we're still sometimes getting afternoon showers.)
I like that dress a lot, am trying and trying to come up with an excuse to keep it, because I will lose the weight necessary for it to fit me. I could wear it with the blue pumps (that I'd otherwise have to return) or the tan slingbacks. But I don't think it'd work in an office, and I'm not ready to change my religion for a dress....

Is the last floral dress a no go? It's really lovely on you. Agree to your existing shrug and that the blue one doesn't work... are you already out and headed for the plane?

Another problem with these photos is the camera lens. It puts everything in extreme perspective, so things just a little bit further from the camera look tiny. I want a camera (not attached to a phone) for Christmas, but that's a long way off. I'll have to come up with a different solution in the meantime.

Liz, the black dress is one I've had for a long time, but never wore until recently. It feels very comfortable on. On a post of an outfit I wore at Disney, a couple people said the spaghetti straps on my top were a problem. I don't know why that was, so am wondering about these. They don't adjust. It's a Victoria's Secret dress with a shelf bra, so pulling it higher would be awkward.

I like the blue and white top, but it's hard to tell what the fit is like, from these photos. I wouldn't wear it with bike shorts, but with some other type of white pant.

What is your question about the black dress? Is it something you're trying to decide whether to keep or return? (You might want to check the length of the straps on it -- do they have the sliders that allow you to shorten them? The proportions look off now, with the dress riding so low on your torso.)

Barbara, your own dress that you had in consignment? That's awesome.
I should clean my bathtub so I don't have to turn like that to avoid having it in the background. ;)
The blue and white top might work with the white pants I have on in the second and third photos, but I don't think the stretchy bike shorts in the first one work well with it.

Which pix should I retake? All?

Btw, the SS shrug doesn't work so well anyway. The restocking fee is only a couple dollars less than what I paid for it, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

I love that you found it in your closet.
Once I fretted for weeks about what to wear to a very hot wedding. Then I picked up a dress from consignment that hadn't sold and it was perfect. Just needed to add an airy wrap I already owned.

I think that the way you stood to take your photos was awkward and made things look off that were fine. Look at the first photo. If you are deciding based on the photos I'd have someone else take photos and then decide.

I like the blue and white top. It's definitely my style, but I don't know what you like.

Thanks, Paula, for kick-starting my memory of it.

FedEx, actually, but I don't think they're in any musicals.

Overall, I'm doing ok with the weight loss/body reshaping, but instead of one last big push before the wedding (and possibly last family photos--sounds macabre, but my parents won't live forever), I've slacked off in the past couple weeks. I'm not hating on myself here, but it does complicate shopping by mail.

The Life is Good pjs are about perfect for both of us. Yay!

The tencil palm tree pants are cute, but a little too snug. I'm keeping them to wear after the trip, when I'm a little slimmer (goal is 27" or 28" waist, 20% body fat or less, probably 140-something). So I need to change out my airplane game plan, but think I need a primer on skinny straps first. (LeDonna, Jenny NZ, Bueller? Bueller?) Does the black dress/blanket sweater combo work for the flight?

It's too hot and I'm too whiney to try on the dress and topper together, but here are the colors together. The blue Nordis cardies both clash with the dress so badly it makes my teeth hurt.

The backup dress, sadly, is too snug.

I'm not sure what to do with the blue and white top. It is jersey, instead of the crisp shirt fabric I expected. I don't think it works with the bike shorts, but maybe with the pants. This is a petite size. The standard size is 2" longer, but was only available in black. I'm not sure if I want to keep it, exchange for the black, or give up altogether. "Cute little bug" is not a look I was going for.

My son says I look unhappy in these pix, except that in the last one with the sweater, I look pregnant and scared. I am none of the above, just have a headache waiting for the afternoon thunderstorm to drop the air pressure, and didn't sleep last night. I'm about to throw a bunch of clothes into a bag, take him to basketball practice (& work out), get my stuff from the neighbor's garage, finish packing, and hope I can sleep decently tonight. Look for an urgent post from me soon, figuring out a rehearsal dinner outfit for Friday night.
