And, I've been spared the anxiety, lol. Tried it on. Let's just say I can stop thinking about it now. And, as you all observed, proportions are key with this look.

I have always liked this look and think it still is plenty current. As alaskagirl points out, the tricky part is getting the right fit for both the cropped top and underneath garment so that the layers don't bunch up. Because of this concern, I am also a fan of the "faux layered" garments.

I like this question in general.
I don't want to feel weighed down by trend- current worries if I am still liking something a lot. It makes me feel too lemming- oid.
I know I need to keep evolving but don't want to second- guess every second, and especially don't want to toss something fun, flattering and comfortable ( to me, and that I'm still blissfully, ignorantly happy with) just to stay on trend. I'm sure there's a line there somewhere.

So I am hoping that Angie's " wide- open " fashion assessment, that there are many more " acceptable " styles on the go now, allows room.

This has always been a favorite look of mine, which is why I love those faux layered sweaters. Getting the right fit for both items is hard, especially for me with a bit of apple weight.

I've seen it enough to think it is at least a fringe trend-so if it looks good and makes you happy-go for it! I think people who don't follow trends might take a second look when they see you if it's the first time they've seen this look. I like it in theory but can't see the proportions working for me.

Wow! The coveted Angie Seal of Approval! Thanks. I'd likely wear it with a woven shirt.

As long as the bottom layer doesn't cling too tightly to the midsection - wear this look with joy. Why not!

I haven't tried this on, but it caught my eye in the store and I'm going back. The cropped sweater over a longer layer, as pictured, is a very figure-flattering look for me, and one that historically has a very high happiness quotient. But, it is current? Does it look forward, or look like old clothes? I would be content to get one winter out of it--having a high-happiness casual piece and wearing it to death works really, really well with me.
