I could swear I've worn mine on a plane without problems, despite the steel shank. (We'll talk about stylish some other time.)</p> <p>A bit long, but I have to rave about this.</p> <p>I've been looking for good walking shoes for my problematic feet for an upcoming trip to Paris. I went back to SAS and bought a couple of pairs of lace up shoes in a slightly new and improved versions of my old SAS that have worked well for me. I also bought a pair of SAS sandals--they have upgraded their styling a bit.</p> <p>However, after I wore them around a couple of hours the tops of my feet, especially the left, hurt so much I knew I was in trouble.&nbsp;</p> <p>In the meantime, I'd posted asking about compression socks. A PA advised me to try Zensah calf sleeves, which I did in addition to other suggestions from you. (I'd already tried a pair of medical compression socks from the drugstore.)</p> <p>The Zensah are okay, but my ankle and feet were swollen by the end of the day.</p> <p>I tried the Nordstrom compression trouser socks and they work very well. They are thin knits, come mainly in dark colors, but at the end of the day I have no swelling of legs and feet, no incipient varicose veins sticking out. And surprise:</p> <p>When I wear them with the SAS I can stand them for hours and be reasonably comfortable. I also tried a pair of Rejuva and Sockwell, which come in lighter colors and patterns, and they will be great for the airplane, but I'm not so sure about long hot days.</p> <p>It never occurred to me to try slip on sneakers and I've tried them as well.&nbsp;</p> <p>Thank you all for your suggestions--this really helps. I now have to figure out what to wear with my socks.&nbsp;</p> <p>By the way, I am TSA pre-approved, which means I can leave my shoes on to go through airport security, BUT--Munro shoes set off the alarm! It turns out my comfy airplane shoes have steel shanks in them, and apparently most Munro shoes do as well. Now I need new airplane shoes.</p> <p> </p>
