I have been relatively absent from the forum lately because I’m so busy with work and life in general, but what a fun idea, especially since I work in school buildings! Yesterday one of the six year olds spent 30 minutes telling me all about his new transformer costume......LOL! We have a parade in each building and all the staff wear costumes, but this is so fun. I don’t have time to pull myself together today, but I think I will do this the days I’m working with the younger kids. Obviously, it will be subtle, since I still have to look somewhat professional. This time of year I do new evaluations. I wonder what the first impression of the doctor would be if I were in costumes? I saw a different 6 year old who boldly told me I wasn’t a doctor because I wasn’t wearing a suit. I think I will wear a power suit as my first costume! (Too bad I gave my lab coat to DD and she used it as her painting smock). </p> <p>I may not stick with your themes, but I may use themes from the games the kids play as long as they are appropriate. My outfit really has to be wearable/functional/suitable for the bulk of my day. So for me... no big gorilla slippers, or seashell bra tops. (Unless I’m going to an actual costume party)</p> <p>2). I try to use what I already have, and not buy anything.</p> <p>3). If I buy anything for this, it’s gotta be thrifted and/or inexpensive, Under $20 for an outfit.</p> <p>4). I try to get creative with the wardrobe orphans and makeup and unworn accessories in my closet.</p> <p>5). I DO NOT STRESS OVER THIS OR WORRY ABOUT PERFECTION. The idea is to have fun. And I don’t expect to dress up every day, although it would be fun to try.</p> <p>Outfits I will definitely wear: Mermaid. Marquise de Meurteil. Marie Antoinette. 1930s/40s Film Noir. The Rose from Alice in Wonderland. Cheshire Cat. Morticia Addams. Valmont (or Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast). The Firebird. I originally posted about it here: <a href="https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/what-do-we-think-about-an-october-everyday-costume-challenge" rel="nofollow">https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....-challenge</a></p> <p>I thought for this challenge, we could keep the themes simple, to start, Feel free to build on an idea, and get as complex and/or specific as you would like!</p> <p>I’m going to stick to my original schedule:</p> <p>October 1-7 - Once Upon a Time: Pick your favorite fairytale, fantasy, or sci-fi character - hero, villain, princess, mythical creature. Can be from literature (comic books count) or film/television, or a charcter of your own choosing.</p> <p>October 8-14 - Time Warp: Pick a style era that speaks to you, that isn't the current decade.</p> <p>October 15-21 - Flora &amp; Fauna: Choose your favorite animal, animal character, flower, tree, etc. that inspires you, and build an outfit around it.<br /> (As an example, l plan to wear an outfit that pays homage to the talking flowers in Alice in Wonderland).</p> <p>October 22-28 - It's a Small World! Choose an outfit that is evocative of a place you've been, or would love to go.</p> <p>October 29-31 This is Halloween! Happy-time, free-for-all. Your choice! The only 'rule' is, wear something that elevates your day and lifts your spirits! </p>
