I didn't commit to this when you started the thread, but I think I have to start now - for a NOvember SYC, at the minimum. I think I should lay off shopping until the sales begin after Christmas, and even then I should be very careful with my choices. My budget is blown for the third month in a row. Not good!

I really should have been on OctNOber since we've started to make college tuition payments. . .Too bad I decided about a year ago that my wardrobe needed a serious revamp since I hadn't really shopped in close to 20 years and still had pleated pants, short and wide turtlenecks, etc. Yes, that bad and I didn't even have a major weight loss or gain as an excuse.

My success is that tomorrow, I am returning a jacket that I bought at NAS -- good price and flattering, but I decided that the reason I haven't worn it yet is that it is just too fiddly, and I've concluded that I don't tend to want to wear fiddly clothing. Next week, I will be returning an AT bracelet that is a cousin or sister of the one that Angie featured. This was my first bracelet, and two faux pearls fell off before I even had a chance to wear it out of the house, or maybe they weren't there in the first place. The Westfield Style Manual that Angie posted convinced me that if I want to try out something very new like bracelets and see if they are too fiddly for me that I should buy them at Claire's.

My current quandary is whether I should return the Remain polka dot pullover that Angie featured. I have NO other pullovers. None. So does this mean I wouldn't wear it? I am dotty over dots, so would that outweigh pulling the thing over my head?

I am really big on having all my purchases count and wearing what I buy. Separating wants from needs is a bit harder. Last night, I just bought a number of items that had been in my Nordie's wish list in anticipation of them possibly going on sale. They went on sale so I pulled the trigger. If things aren't 10s to me, I have become very good about returning them, but still, are they merely wants?

I need to figure out the camera, tripod, and lighting thing to help me with K/Rs, because I may not always be able to tell those things that are less than 10s.

Do clothing repair/upgrade items count?

I am Team Keep, which is now coming in handy with my fluctuating weight.
I've shrunk enough in size that my favorite wool duffle coat fits again (happy dance!). [Yes, it is a timeless classic].

It needed a little refurbishing - I checked over the seams and combed out the wool pills in the lining. When I put it aside the zipper was not working, but I did not worry about it since it was too tight to wear. I found a Riri zipper online to replace the old one for around US $10 (with shipping).

So far so good. I'm wanting a few new things though (pencil skirts!) and thinking that if I make them or find the free, then it doesn't count. And if I find a pair of knee-high flats that fit and I'm willing to pay for, I'm totally doing it.

Whew, halfway there and still under control. I admit to a 15 online purchase from H&M on the 1st day of the month...no excuses, just bad Jayne. But 14 days purchase free now and I even went shopping with my daughters in Sweden on the weekend (Sweden is like 'cheap' to us)...so feeling good. 16 more days to go now.

It helps alot to be concentrating on shopping my closet and using all the new stuff I have purchased before. I did a little check on my wear rate and I am really getting good use of the new clothes and shoes. But I think it will be eye opening at the end of the year, how much/little I use of certain things. I have a clear favorite of new white/black jacket and black booties, for example...and I wore my black moto alot when it was warmer.

I spent ~$20 at the thrift store at the beginning of the month, but I think that's it. *ponders* I really need to get back in the habit of writing all my clothes purchases down.

I'm really torn between saving up all my money this fall to buy clothes a size smaller when I need them (working on it, sigh) or buying a pair of boots. My thinking is that I could buy the boots and they'd still fit even when I lost weight, as opposed to more clothes. Argh!

My only purchase has been a much needed longer leather belt so I can tuck into low-riding jeans and it was $1 at a thrift store.
I also feel good about my closet and have enough options going into fall this year. I'd like a pair of dark red or purple jeans but may pass on that trend as all seem to be ankle length or shorter.

I'm doing good - I had a couple of return things that I'm still rotating (shoes and one more pair of jeans namely) so I can't really count those as I "spent" the original dollars last month and I intend to keep rotating until I find the right ones. I've been stalking handbags for months but have held out for now since I bought a used one last month to test drive a different style option. My closet is looking so much better compared to the start of the year and I"m wearing some of the things I'd been "holding" for whatever silly reasons (thought it was too dressy, wanted to "save" it, etc.) I've also been trying to work on new outfit ideas with what's in my closet - I feel like I need to have more tried and true complete outfits.

Easy. I guess all my wardrobe holes are filled. Then again I was never much of a shopper. I tracked my purchases over the last year (not SYC, just my typical pattern) and found I had zero purchases for five months out of twelve.

After a year and a half on YLF, I truly feel like I have a handle on my closet. I feel tranquil when getting dressed in the morning because I know I have lots of stylish options that fit me well. What a change from my pre-YLF days. I SHOULD be all done shopping. Of course there's more to shopping than just filling a need. I am super happy with my recent boot purchases... and I thought that would be it. But then a handbag I've been stalking went on sale. I know I will regret it if I miss it. I pulled the trigger late last night. I need to spend more time organizing and playing in my closet. There are a lot of fab options in there. I need to make use of them!

I'm doing great - again, only 2 weeks but still feeling strong. I think it helped that I just put my warm weather clothing away and took out my cold weather clothing and it will take me awhile to wear everything I haven't seen for six months. I keep thinking about some red studded booties from Nordstrom but it means more to me to keep my word to hubby and son and make them proud of me (I promised a year of SYC so to cave so soon would be a bit embarrassing).

I realized we are halfway through the month. I did some girl math on returning a blazer and got a $10 layer tee, but I am returning that as well. So I am truly in the free and clear on purchases for the month.
Some of you may have caught me agonizing over the satin blazer on my list coming on sale right when I'd just paid for the leather jacket. I decided to let the blazer go until next month and hope it's still there, and if I'm lucky it will go on sale again.
I also agonized a bit over the leather jacket. I came to realize it was cold feet about spending the money knowing we'll be looking for work in a few short months. It was good to flesh it out here though and see what my purchasing criteria were in my head when it came to bigger ticket items.
So far, a very successful month of no shopping for me. How about you? Temptations? Slips? No trouble at all?
