With me the fit issue is rise low enough yet enough room in the thighs and butt. You are quite a bit slimmer than me so your&nbsp;fit issues are of course different. I've been hemming jeans all my life so that's no issue for me. You make an excellent point about<br />brands/styles being inconsistent over time or fitting differenly based on fabric choice etc. I'm with you on "good enough" is ok. (Don't need a "prince" as you say). I guess I should give Madewell a try <br />although the stores I've been in lately are still ONLY high rise.. I buy and return a LOT because sizing is not consistent and I have a devil of a time getting a proper seat fit. I have had luck with anything from BP to Madewell to Levi's to Caslon. Nothing premium except the Tsubo, and they were extremely discounted. (See my Finds. The first two that come up haven't yet been delivered; the Levi's are my third try since they seem to run extraordinarily small. I have also passed on a few.) As you may recall, I'm 5' 1" so short like you. Thus, the ankle pants are full length on me. Plus, I think I've sized up on a number so the ones labeled skinny really aren't.</p> <p>I kiss a lot of frogs and never expect to find a prince, even in brands and cuts that have worked previously. Slightly different fabrications or country of manufacture can make all the difference in the world. The jeans in my wardrobe that fit me best are&nbsp; Democracy straight leg and NYDJ Marilyn. The Marilyn fits me really well and the quality of the denim seems quite good - not quite high end but good.&nbsp; The denim quality seems a bit lower in the Democracy ones. I do prefer just a bit of stretch.&nbsp;</p> <p>So for those of you who wear NYDJ Marilyn, what other brands/styles work for you?
