I agree with Suz. It's not going to be too hot for boots. Take layers.

Psssst.....

Want to know my solution?

Wear a pair of shoes that will BREAK on the trip there.

And then go shopping immediately for whatever you need.

In all seriousness, that was not my PLAN when I travelled to New York. But it is what happened! And I ended up with a few great pairs of shoes.

I do understand about your nervousness. When I'm packing, footwear makes me crazy. Especially at these transitional season times. Feet MUST be comfortable but one also wants to look stylish.

I do think it's okay to take a few pair of shoes, no matter how short the trip. And I agree...you can probably get away without sandals even if the weather is quite warm.

Not a New Yorker, but for shoes this time of year I'd pack flat or low-heeled booties, cute comfortable flats, and pumps with a 3" or less heel. These would bookend my hair so they could go with anything. Angie's Sam Edelman snakeskin booties from today's post would be perfect. Even if muggy, it will probably cool off enough at night that you won't need strappy sandals.
It sounds like you have such a fun weekend planned. Have a wonderful time celebrating your friend's big day.

I started this thread over a week ago:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-challenge

... and then had life intervene and a situation that threatened to cancel the weekend trip, hence my MIA lately. Looks like the trip is now a "go." And I'm scrambling to figure out what to pack before we leave Friday morning.

QUESTION: what is the weather like in NYC? Yes I know I can check accuweather. But a forecast never works for me, especially for city trips (tall buildings can make it degrees cooler on the street). What I really want to know is............ what are you wearing for the weather there?

Especially ... shoes!!!

I have anal-retentively spread-sheeted out packing options, based around shoes. Around here in Boston we've had days where tall boots - but sans tights- has worked. Most days ballet flats or booties with bare legs and a dress are perfect. But then today strappy heels or sandals would have worked, because it was quite muggy. I really need to limit the number of shoes. As I mentioned in previous post, I have to pack light for this trip....
