Kate, thanks for posting the links. Somebody at work told me about this interview, and I had forgotten to go look for it until I saw the title of your posting.

Scarlet, that's a brilliant idea--I have to do some ironing this afternoon, and hopefully this interview will take away some of the tedium.

Kate, I think this was the same interview where he talked about wearing color, yes? If so, this was the quotation I loved:
----------------------
I don't wear a lot of color. In fact, I don't actually like color on myself. I love color but it's very challenging, it's very powerful, it can overpower you. I think if my eyes were closed and someone put a red jacket on me, I would be able to feel that it was red. I don't feel great in color.
---------------------

And here is the YLF conversation that ensued:

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....d-on-color

I heard the last two parts of this today too. It was very interesting, especially the bit about super high heels and slick polish pushing people away. Also interesting to keep in mind that this interview was done back in 2003 or 4, I can't remember which.

I'm not a big fan of high fashion and haven't heard anything about the movie "Single Man" so I was a bit reluctant when an interview with Tom Ford came on NPR while I was driving this afternoon. The interview was in fact incredibly insightful and truthful, and I loved what he had to say about fashion (much to my surprise).

The interview I heard today can be found here: http://www.npr.org/templates/s.....=128380389

I realize it's a bit more of a time commitment than most YLF posts, so if you want to skip through, he talks about the fashion in the movie at 7:45, about his own interest in fashion at 12:00, fashion, reality, "post-human body manipulation" from 13:30-18:30, the importance of alterations 18:30-end.

It really is a wonderful interview, and I hope you enjoy it!

The interview in its original version (almost twice as long) is here: http://www.npr.org/templates/s.....=121405891
