Thank you, Sal. I have finally realized that the body keeps changing, so wear the things you like best while you still can. It also makes it easier to get rid of what you don’t like.

That was a fun and educational month Joy. I like these challenges for realising what is enjoyable (and practical) to wear, and what I don't like. It is not always obvious until you do the challenge.

And yes wear the nice things!!

Thank you , Shevia. You are correct. Warm colors and EF are the backbone of my wardrobe. Most EF are pieces I can wear year round, which is a big plus. I have been lucky to find most on major sale. In Kansas most women are larger than I am, so the small sizes were on the sale racks. Here in Colorado, the small sizes sell out early so XL is the most common sale size. I will probably have to pay full price now or search second hand shops. Nordstrom Rack often has some good deals on them, especially shoes. I try for columns of neutrals as a wardrobe base.

I noticed how clearly you chose a warm color palette and how it worked well for you. Warm colors and EF are the backbone of your wardrobe. Interesting observations!

Anchie, I found 21 a bit too small. Ordinarily I would need to add a few dresses and skirts. In normal times I try to wear a frock twice a week at a minimum. The weather changes made things difficult. 21 items may make more sense in January than in November. 28 would be better, although that is for staying mostly at home.

Great analysis. Do you find 21 items just enough or on the small sude for a month ? I ask because my whole fall winter office wardrobe that I wear 6 months of the year, 5 days a week is 28 items.

Good for you, nemosmom. Sometimes I ride along and wait in the car while DH runs errands, mostly to do a curbside pickup of something ordered online. Not exactly a dress up occasion, but it becomes that. A short trip to the pharmacy or grocery store is becoming a huge deal and is exhausting. I am wearing some heavy wool socks inside. They are so thick that they do not fit well in shoes. If I need to pop out to get the mail or a delivery, I slip on thrifted Crocs. I never thought I’d wear Crocs, let alone socks with Crocs, but it works for these situations. The Crocs were bought for a silly costume and have become useful gardening shoes.

I can't wait to see your festive outfits! Love your wardrobe musings - YES to allowing yourself more variety. I did not leave home for the entire month of November - not even to walk the neighborhood. I have learned how difficult it is to make an outfit without shoes or toppers...

Lynne, yes, free weekends will allow me to try Angie’s Friday ensemble and not just with my monthly designated pieces and indulge in different colors and combinations outside of the monthly 21. I also may start with less and add on as needed. In November I added in my second ( reserve) EF black pant suit and a second reserve dark brown long sleeved top because of laundry bottlenecks . The long brown cashmere cardigan came close as the sleeves got dirty. It will go to the cleaners.

Rachylou I like your thinking. I am wearing more and more that I once deemed too precious. I am not getting any younger.
Runcarla, I did both a lot of rewearing favorites and some crazy mixing and especially mixed neutrals much more than usual. In fact, in January/ February I plan to challenge myself to wearing neutrals together for several days, like black and white week, black and tan days, grey and black week, etc. Your WIWs and small wardrobe inspire me. I will post outfits that are an attempt at being festive. There may be cartoon characters.
Bonnie, I learn a lot from keeping track of number of wears and hope to continue. It shows what,if anything, I need to add and encourages wearing what I have. It also keeps me focused on a few items and finding ways to wear them. I relied heavily on footwear and accessories to add variety. My most worn footwear was house shoes / pink Vionic loafer slippers and grey Ugg loafers. My black booties and white boots were most worn out of the house.

Cardiff girl and Rachylou I will take away the items mentioned for they were not worn at all. I hope to replace the 2 pair of dark brown pants with one good pull on, if it can be found. I did not wear at all an EF silk pair of pants because it was not warm enough, but will keep them for warmer fall days and they have a matching brown silk top. I did not wear a couple of dresses but hope to in December. I found I need some new stockings for warmth with skirts and dresses, especially dark brown and nude. My older pairs of these developed holes and runs quickly. They do not last.
I ended up wearing 19 items out of the 21 and could have doubled up more. I tried to wear everything at least once

Thank you for your responses. Nuancedream, the turquoise cashmere turtleneck sounds like a beautiful and useful addition. I nodded in agreement with your favorites. Wool plaid full length ps to soud be a vert welcome addition. I used to have plaid pants that I liked but they were jeans and are gone. I will have to look for some plaid pull-ons.
SJSI, for December I plan to use my color and sparkle as much as possible. I have a red wool consignment blazer that I have not worn at all. I will carry over olive green and pull out my heaviest black wool pants and add a deep red Ponte knit pants. I think I will have enough bottoms but hope to find some wool or Ponte plaid.
Cardiff girl, I did use some wardrobe pieces more , especially anything brown and the orange short sleeved sweater was a Star. The short sleeves were ideal for cooking for Thanksgiving and earlier during a snowy week, making big pots of beef and of green chili chicken chili soup. In the future I will seek out warm hops with short or elbow length sleeves. I hope you find your sparkly lounge suit.
Back soon to finish answering. This is getting long.

You've learned a lot from your challenge. I've done them in the past and learned a lot, too. This season, I've kept a record of the tops and toppers worn for the past for last 8 1/2 weeks and your post made me review it. My goal has been to wear "the heck out of my wardrobe" while staying at home during this virus year. I wore my gray tunic 13 times, a black shirt was worn 12 times. a plaid dress 10 times. and a striped white/navy shirt was worn 9 times. I varied these wears by also wearing 6 other tops/toppers from 1 to 5 times. I think I had enough variety of items wearing a total of 10 different tops/toppers that I didn't get bored while accomplishing my goal of working towards at least 30 wears for each item. It helped that I changed things up by wearing different pants, shoes, and accessories. It's really starting to cool off and I'm looking forward to wearing my cozy cardigans for the next two months.

November was a changeable month with temps ranging from 20degC (68degF) to below freezing. I ended up wearing 14 different tops from my total collection of 24! Also reinforced how much a ‘tags off - wear the new’ person I am. Brought 2 new pair of pants into my closet and I’ve worn one pair 8 times already, and the other 6!

What a thoughtful analysis of your wardrobe, Joy. Your outfits are inspirational and I especially love how you accessorize your neutrals. For November, I found that ponte knit pants and skirts are my best friends. Ditto to long cardigans and merino pullovers. I've added some wool plaid full length pants to my closet. They're festive looking but not so much that i look like I should be draped in tinsel garland. A surprise wild card is a thrifted turquoise cashmere turtleneck (brand new w/tags). It works beautifully with dark green and teal.

I tried to stick to 21 pieces for the. I think of November and still have a few days to go but have seen some patterns and decided to do a roundup now. I counted tops, bottoms, and indoor toppers. I did not count outdoor coats or any footwear or accessories or uncerwearI got very bored and saw that to avoid laundry and cleaning bottlenecks I need to duplicate or have similar of, white and black long sleeved tops such as tees or turtlenecks and bottoms that are black and blue denim, and a couple of black toppers These do not need to be identical.
Next time I will designate wearing whatever I want on weekends or certain days of the week to indulge a need for more variety. Being able to wear the same outfit with different footwear and accessories helped a lot. Also the fact that I did not go anywhere.
The tops that got the most wear are an EF orange short- sleeved sweater and an EF light olive long - sleeved merino sweater.(.6 wears each so far) These were followed closely a dark brown turtleneck and a white EF long sleeved tee. Each had a double...an EF dark brown silk crew neck and a thrifted ivory turtleneck. Each color had 4 wears during the month.
Another favorite was a loose knit black pull on sweater.
Most wears in the bottoms category goes to EF slim black Ponte pants( 11 wears). followed closely by EF pull on olive Ponte pants and brown plaid wide legs and denim pull on jeans/joggers.
Most wears In the indoor topper category goes to a black jacket and a long dark brown cashmere cardigan and a grey puffer vest.
Out are dark brown leather pants, dark brown, black and dark grey ( one pair of each color) Chico’s Ponte pants, a grey sweatshirt and probably my pewter booties which no longer feel comfortable.
My neutrals for this experiment were supposed to stay in the autumn range or browns, olive, and ivory. Some grey, black and denim crept in.
I wore lots or orange and mustard and olive in accessories. The weather went from pleasant to frigid. We had a couple of snows in November.
I would do this again, but with some changes for more color and variety.
I learned that I should pick a few colors and stick with them and rely more heavily on neutrals for a smaller wardrobe. I also learned the importance of basics in neutral shades to put together an outfit.
Next month, December, I plan to pull front and center all things holiday and hope to add some new refreshers in this category as I got rid of several things and everything is old. I need to concentrate on casual but festive pieces and accessories. Thank you for reading all this. Thoughts? What did you wear in November?
