Sounds like you're happy with them, and that's fantastic! Nothing feels better than jeans that work the way we want them to! And sometimes, nothing is harder to find.

UPDATE: I wore those jeans all day Sunday. They did stetch, but that was a good thing for me. They were extremely comfy. I wore them with a chocolate brown short cardigan (waist length) over a multi-colored floral tunic-length sleeveless scoopneck shell, chocolate brown boots (over the jeans) and coordinated necklace and earrings.

I guess you could say I ordered a size smaller than I usually wear. I usually wear either a size 6 regular (and get them hemmed) or a size 8 petite. In the NYDJ, the size 6 petite fits really well. There's no way any part of me would fit into a size 4 petite. Not in this style, anyway. I assume that all NYDJ's are cut the same so that no matter what style you order, the fit will be the same. Is that right?

Dont be afraid to have them made better than perfect by a good tailor! It is really worth it, esp for jeans! Hemming correctly makes a great difference. In regard to my non-black jeans, I wash them in cold water, inside out, air dry and iron. Never in the dryer.

Yay! The size 6P arrived last night. Here's my verdict: Keep!

The inseam is exactly the right length, and these jeans make my butt look really good.

They don't flatten my tummy as much as I'd like, but after 4 kids (3 of them c-section births), I've quit expecting my tummy to look perfectly flat like it used to. If I wear the right tops with these jeans, I'll look great. It's all about how you put things together, ya know?

The waist is not too high, so I'm glad I bought the petite size instead of the regular.

The fabric has some stretch, but for me that's a good thing. They fit a little on the tight side, so I'm thinking they'll stretch during the day and end up feeling really comfy.

I'm still waiting on the size 8P to arrive, but I'm thinking I may also like the slightly larger size for those times of the month when I'm bloated and need more room.

Having said all this, I will finish by saying that these jeans are definitely never going in the dryer. If they shrink, I'll be in a world of hurt, because they'll be too short and/or too tight.

Petite sizes usually have a lower waist than I like, as I am long in the rise. Maybe this brand will work. I didn't order the regular size because of the long inseam. It's one of those things. Sometimes I can wear petite pants; sometimes I can't. I'm anxious to get home and see if the package arrived.

I read an online article today that said if you're apple shaped, go a size down, but that if you're pear shaped, it's best to stick to your regular size. Apparently it has to do with the way they fit in the thighs.

NYDJ jeans definitely run large. I have 2 pairs of black bootcuts, hemmed for different heel heights. The first pair seemed to fit perfectly but after I got them home and wore them a few times they started feeling like they were at least a size too big. My tailor agreed and in the end she took them in and they have been fine ever since. I bought the second pair a size down and they fit fine. As mine are black, I dry clean them. My tailor, who is my shopper, says they fit indifferently on my frame so doubt that will be buying any more. I like the higher waist though-they dont slip as much as lower rise jeans and bring back a certain 70s vibe.

I always wash my jeans in cold water and dry them on low heat, and have never had any issues... but that may be because I buy misses regular size (remember I'm petite, with a short waist and long rise), wash and dry them a couple of times, and then have them hemmed to the proper length. This seems to work, though I have never bought jeans with lycra or polyester in them before. I will most definitely keep them out of the dryer!

I'm holding my breath about the fit of these jeans. I won't know until I get them, so hopefully I won't have to hold my breath too long. Getting jeans that fit in both the waist and hips has always been a challenge for me. Right now I wear Lee jeans, which are a relaxed fit with straight legs. Nothing fancy or fashionable about them, but they fit me to a tee.

I also find the NYDJs run large and feel bulky on. In fact the SA at Nordstroms brought me a couple pair to try on today (I'm looking for black jeans to replace faded ones.) I don't like the back pocket placement (too low) and how they look from the rear on me.
Ruth, please don't put your jeans with any lycra content in the dryer. Instead of shrinking, the lycra gets ruined and they permanently stretch out. There is an old thread on this that I'll try to locate.
I found this advice:
"Jeans with Lycra are crazy. They will stretch like mad! When you try them on they should be pretty tight-to the point where you're thinking "ooh, no way." In a couple of hours they will be just fine. (And you'll be looking fabulous!)

You should never wash your jeans on hot. Turn them inside out; wash them in cold and hang to dry. The dryer will ruin the Lycra. I learned all of this at a denim workshop at Nordstrom. If you want to soften them up after they dry, you can put them in your dryer on "no heat." I have found that even when caring for my jeans like this, they creep up a bit in length over time. I hope this helps."

Some people say they do put their jeans in the dryer. Results are mixed.

I agree with the others that the sizing is quite large, and sometimes variable, and the stretch is tremendous (which is why I can't recommend). My hips are 41-42" and I fit an 8 (regular) in NYDJ. Go figure.

I had one pair of these. I tried to size down but they were too tight in the thighs, but I was never happy with the fit around the waist. They always seemed too big and instead of slimming, they actually added bulk, which wasn't the plan... All you can do is try them and see.

I just ordered another pair, in size 6P, from vipzappos.com ON SALE for under $75. The size chart at Zappos was different than the size chart at the NYDJ website. Either that, or I read the NYDJ size chart wrong. (You never know. With my eyes, anything can happen!) If either of the pairs I ordered don't fit, I can always send 'em back.

The Janice leggings have a high % of polyester in them, so they WILL stretch. Still, I have rather large thighs, so that may be a good thing for me. We shall see...

i usually wear a 6 in pants and i recently thrifted a pair of NYD jeans in size 2. I do like the dark wash and the stretchiness of them makes them feel like yoga pants. i dont find that the are too baggy (i did go down 2 sizes though!) by the end of the day and can usually get 2-3 wear before i have to wash them (i do wash my jeans inside out and line dry). i think in their size chart i was between a 4 and a 6 when i was looking at buying a pair online previously. this photo was date night last week, i had been wearing the jeans all day already and just threw on a jacket over my layering tank, i didnt feel like the jeans looked too stretched out....

Thanks! On my 50-year-old body, anything too close-fitting is a no-no, so maybe I'll be okay with the 8P. Long gone are the days when I wore jeans that were so tight I had to lie down on the bed to zip them up, LOL! Still, there's not much in the fashion world that's worse than stretched-out denim. I won't know 'til they get here, though.

My experience with NYDJ is that they run really big. I have the Janice leggings (regular, not petite) and had to size down. Maybe could have gone down 2 sizes. "Leggings" is a misnomer for these, at least on me- they're not tight through the legs at all.

Warning: NYD Jeans stretch like crazy. I got a pair last year on the over-eager recommendation of a SA, and I had to consign them. :(

So please, when they come, show us and we can advise.

I have heard that their ponte pants are really good and don't stretch out like the jeans. And it is also possible that the jeans have changed in fabrication and may not stretch as much any more. Will be crossing fingers for you!

I ordered a pair of NYDJs in size 8P, but I'm not sure if I ordered the right size. According to the size chart, a 6P has a 37.5 in. hip measurement is slightly larger. Since my hips measure 38 in., I'm thinking the larger size will be better, especially after they get washed and dried. The ad says that the petite size has a body conscious fit and that if you want a more relaxed fit to order a size up. For the regular size, it says to order a size down. What the hay? That's about as clear as mud, if you ask me. Thoughts?

I bought the Janice stretch denim leggings in Marine (dark denim). I'm anxious to get them and see what I think of them. I've never worn leggings in my life, so this is a new adventure.
