I think the conventional wisdom is that bright solid colors and patterns can be dizzying on TV with harsh studio lighting and unforgiving HD cameras. I'm working next to a window that allows lots of natural light and using a laptop camera that isn't HD. So I don't believe the pattern and bold color would be a problem.
