I've been looking for such a pair too....that fits just right on the waist and hips, but is a relaxed straight fit that isn't skinny or BF with just the right touch of fading (but no distressing). It's freaking 30C here PLUS humidity making it feel like about 38C  (that's 90ish to you ) .  I doubt I'll wear these for another month., I know what you mean about slippage though. My Free People kick crops do the same thing. I am constantly yanking them up like some old farmer - really charming.  And my new BR white ripped skinnies - after half and hour they are about 4 inches too big in the waist. Is there slippage? I had to consign my JCrew cropped jeans -- I think I had them for 4 or 5 months. (Will I ever learn?? I have to stop buying JCrew jeans. Texstyle, PLEASE STOP ME.) They were highish waist but I could not keep them up. Even belted they kept sliding down my straight hips and I had that saggy crotch and baggy bum. Ugh. So now I am without cropped jeans. I'd love a pair but I am gunshy. Talk to me about how these wear during the day. I ordered a pair of  J Brand jeans from Nordstrom (yes, I know, I'm always the one whining about Cdn exchange rates but I was on a bit of an on-line bender this week, in a what-the-heck mood...) on Monday, and they arrived TODAY. And I live in Canada!  Very cool. This never happens.  Anyways, I bought them totally impulsively and based on a recommendation from a favourite blogger - Alyson Walsh. I've attached her pic below.  Anyways - 1/2 price, so decent in Cdn $, cropped (my favourite length still), great soft feel, and lovely worn /not distressed look.  Slim, not skinny nor straight ...in other words - PERFECT!  They fit too !  Actually , I should take heed:  all of this positivity will be punished with my next order, that poncho, slated to arrive in August.
