I will be going into Spring (a favourite season) and then into a long and hot summer. Strange to think about this, whilst it is pouring with rain and stormy today.  Items I will look out for - some not all of these: - denim shorts (casual) - tailored shorts - any colour or pattern, but not black - cotton blouses to wear with jeans and shorts - prefer high neck and long sleeve for sun protection (focus on plain colours rather than patterned) - a scarf and blouse twin set (inspired by Angie's matching sets) - turquoise tank top to wear with a patterned summer skirt - some neutral tank tops - comfy summer sandals / shoes (heel height max 3.5cm) - Casual chore or safari inspired summer jacket - Belt - Scarf - Sun hat - bras and undies - necklace What NOT to buy: - summer dresses - special occasion clothes - NO HEELS - Work suits - Dressy blazers, dresses and trousers - gear track jackets - t-shirts - sneakers - skinny jeans LaPed on "Not NAS" https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/not-nas#post-2207950 Tue, 06 Jul 2021 12:40:05 +0000 LaPed 2207950@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ I have yet to buy anything from NAS besides sheets and towels. After joining YLF, I started browsing the sale to try to understand the excitement, but still haven’t caught the bug myself. My shopping list for the second half of the year is small. I have a fall wedding outfit to put together, and am budgeting to buy at least one or two pieces to make that happen, just don’t know if it will be dressy suiting separates, a can’t-pass-it-up dress, a thrifted ball skirt, quirky dress shoes, a bold accessory, or what… Other than that, I’m still on the lookout for my dream coat: wool, cut big for layering, menswear-inspired, dress up or down, probably olive or oxblood… It *could* be a NAS item, but I don’t want to settle for something too early in the season. Also, NAS is at odds with my travel schedule. I don't think the same one is available anymore, but I'm sure I can replace with something similar. 2. full-length utility pants - Something casual but not jeans. These were on my list last year and the right pair never came along. I can muddle through without, but I definitely feel the hole. 3. slouchy cardigan - This was also on my list last year. Still looking, although now I have some good leads. Might end up being a statement instead...I'm not opposed to something not-neutral. 4. sneakers - My everyday sneakers have 131 wears. The last pair (same brand) lasted 138 wears, so I don't expect them to hold up that much longer. I also plan to add 2-4 new statement pieces between fall and winter, but those are more "when inspiration strikes." Most of that bright flashy magpie stuff was bought before my parents and inlaws all got sick. Kathie, I hear you on “it’s all contingent: who knows” and I’m right there with you. Cat2, you have such an easy-going approach to style and wardrobe management—I like! CarolIS, that would be quite a haul, if you find all the unicorns. But golden brown sounds similar to camel/tan, which is classic with black—Suntiger wears that combo often Sloper, have you seen the melee that is NAS around here? People get very excited that it is the first chance to get things for the coming season, and on sale. There are some who use it to stock up on undies, but there is also a whole ‘nother level to it. Suntiger, you have gone through such a transition with your wardrobe! I need a new puffer coat this winter. I always end up with black, but wouldn't mind finding a brown or camel instead. I have a pair of golden brown mukluks that I have had for two winters and still haven't worn, in part because I don't have a coat to go with them.  I'd also like new winter boots - fairly tall, no heel, comfortable but not clunky. A bit of a unicorn. I'm always on the lookout for slim legged pants in brown shades - solid, false plains. (I love wide legs, but slim are just easier when it comes to dealing with winter.) I am also starting to think about a new pair of glasses. I'd love green frames, or a tortoise that blends chocolate and silver/white. Probably another unicorn. It took years to find my current frames. I'd also love to find a couple of pairs of flat, comfortable shoes that work with jeans or slightly dressier pants for work (would love a pair of wingtips like Sally's and covet the cognac sneakers that Lisa P has on order!). Looking forward, I'd like to find a nice quality black leather belt with a bit of design interest. Maybe another pair of lounge pants for the phys. therapy I do at home, black or grey, but will see if another color pattern speaks to me. I ordered a couple of sweater dresses that won't be here until Fall - maybe some tights to wear with them. Definitely need to replace my walking shoes (that's not exciting though). And maybe a summer hat - we've still got quite a bit of summer and sun still to go here in Southern California. Just simple classic pieces for me now. I'm so tired of being on the "buy a bunch of trendy things then replace with new trendy things" cycle. Once I'm set with classics it's gonna be French 5 for me from here on out! On the way- a camel coat, nude to me (hopefully) bras, and knit flats (Rothys knockoffs cause it's an experiment). Wishlist- classic full length straight leg and possibly wide leg work pants in neutrals (black, brown, burgundy). Straight leg (or maybe baby boot cut) dark wash or black jeans- must have stretch. Not going to spend much here cause I've literally only worn my current ones 3x in 2 years. Jackets- I'm sick of floppy cardis, though they layer better under coats. Definitely neutrals and simple shapes- blazer, maybe leather/pleather, just no obvious breast pockets! Simple cotton sweaters- again neutrals, and maybe a velvet top for the holidays. A burgundy crossbody- hoping my MK returns in burgundy this fall. Thermals. A post swim cozy capsule in navy/teal. Maybe colder weather hike, bike, SUP gear. My ideas for some items have been coalescing, which I think is cool: I’ve wanted plaid winter pants for a while (=a few years) now. I recently have seen a cut of pants I really want to try: high waisted, full length, either slightly cocooned or straight down like waterfall. The key detail is the way they go out from the waist to hips, and then just fall. It just clicked in my head that plaid pants might work in that cut, so I’ve got my eyes peeled. I’ve wanted some kind of berry-colored longer topper for a while too. I’ve recently firmed up what I want there too: a coatigan, probably patterned in analogous colors to give it that “lurking quirk” appeal. Brown boots, either completely flat riding boots or cute ankle boots with some kind of brass details. A beanie & a big white cable-knit cotton sweater, both knit sustainably (though materials will obviously not come from here). Summer things: a classic dress and a kimono. Not in a rush on either. I wouldn’t mind getting burgundy loafers or light-colored flats. Your turn!
