Well I still love how you look in this top. I have seen your other thread today though and agree that the other outfit grey colour looks better. As far as which greys to buy, I think the colour will change more in the next few months, won't it, with it being winter and as the chlorine damaged hair grows out? If it were me I wouldn't spend much on grey clothing when you are not sure?

Your hair is beautiful. I do think the shade of gray might be a bit too light next to your skin, but the lipstick helps keep you from looking colorless. Try adding a scarf or a necklace with some color and I think you will like the sweater better.

I have this problem with some shades of grey too. It makes the brassy tones in my hair look a dirty yellow, and the silver tones look dull.
It seems to really depend on the exact shade of the clothes.... sometimes it works quite well! Confusing....
fwiw I still think that sweater is jfe for you.

I'm sorry you're still dealing with the hair issues. Hair is such a personal thing, and it is such an important part of our overall look.

If it were me, I would try to adjust to the new hair color and buy a few pieces that work well with it (mostly tops, maybe a couple of scarves), so that I have stuff to wear that makes me feel great even when I am in transition. (You're growing your hair out to transition back to your natural color after the chlorine damage, yes?) It's kind of like Angie's advice to dress for the body you have now (this would be dress for the hair you have now).

I see what you mean about the gray in the top clashing with the hair. Gray is such a tricky color to wear. I would look for a warmer gray top. If it were me and I wanted to wear the top in the pic, I would pull my hair back so that the contrast is not so obvious.

Changing your hair color can have big consequences for your wardrobe, which can take time to iron out. And I'm sure you find it especially tough when you didn't want the change in the first place!

Thanks for the further info, Anchie. It could be the photos but it seems to me there is big difference in your hair color in this photo, versus the one you posted on the other thread with the short hair cut. With the additional info that you've had some yellowing due to chlorine, I stand by my suggestion to try a purple shampoo if you haven't already.

I'm using Aveda Blue Malva. As I said it does dry my hair out, so I don't use it very often, once a month tops, then again when I get it cut (as I'm now going to an Aveda salon). It makes a big difference when I use it.
My husband also uses it.

My blonde kids were on the swim team growing up, in the pool 6 days a week, and their hair would turn green over the season. I wish I could remember the shampoo they used to restore it. I think it was a Paul Mitchell brand?

That said, I think your hair is a glorious color. If it were me I might just postpone wearing silver tops for now! Love the idea of champagne for you.

Your hair looks beautiful. I am at a loss as to advice about staying with this hair color or trying (again) to change it, but I do think this sweater is just not quite "your" shade of gray. I think you could wear a charcoal gray quite well, though.

I actually don't think it looks bad at all.

I have a weakness for gray it seems (even though it's probably not "my" color) - my closet has at least 6 gray
tops in various shades with the dark heather charcoal likely working
better than the others.

I have a similar silver gray top that feels just a little bit too silver for me but I still enjoy wearing it. It is a v-neck, short sleeved so there is a lot of warm tan skin color showing - and I usually wear it with a necklace such as a multi-toned blue tortoise disk with gold hardware and belt with gold hardware - that seems to be enough for me to bring it together with my eye color and warm tones in my hair, which is mostly still somewhere between a light golden blonde and a slightly silver white (my natural colors).

So many great responses, thank you. Apologies for not replying to everyone individually, cause I am on my phone. After 8+ hours in front of monitor at work I just can’t use computer in my free time. But I did read, consider and appreciate each and every response.
Many of you commented that this sweater is too cool color for me and that I should try more warm grey and I agree with this. Champagne and light gold color sounds fab but I am afraid not easy to find. Any finds maybe? I kind of think that #4 color scheme from today’s blog post could work for me too. I am even thinking that gold could be better metal for me than silver. I seem to have very similar coloring as Joy. But here is the catch - this is not really my natural color. I mentioned before my yellowing hair issue, and that is still skewing how my hair looks. My natural color is completely white, not this warm color. Even my hairdresser first recommended to go with blond highlights because they would blend better then silver with my current color, but I just did not see that going blond is good solution for me. Question is should I accept this color and adjust to it instead of fighting it?

Anchie, you have beautiful hair. Just stunning.

The top is a cooler grey than your natural hair. That's why it doesn't work as well as you wish. I'm with Liz and Janet on this.

Your hair is beautiful. I do not see it looking dirty. The sweater picks up the lightest tones in your hair. My hair was much like yours several years ago. The grey keeps getting whiter. Try a taupey grey.

Hi Anchie --

I'd cover your hair completely and then look at the sweater against your skin. I think you'll find the sweater may need to move along and the lovely hair is fine as-is!

I'd try a neutral or warm grey and see how it goes.

But as mentioned above, downplaying the grey with a scarf or blazer is a mid-way option.

ps Even though I wear cool colors, I can't wear too light a cool grey in a solid. It may pick up my hair but I look washed out. As an accent color, it's great. Same as when I was all dark!

Your hair looks great! But, I know the color has been a challenge, with the effects of summer chlorine, and then correcting that. I agree with all the others- I think the top might be better for layering, either with one of your amazing jackets or with a scarf. It’s not an easy color to wear on its own.

I certainly don't see your hair as "dirty", but I do see the difference in color. Liz has summed up what came to my mind. I see you have beautiful brows. Why not trying to match their pretty darker color in your outfit instead of with your awesome hair?

Interesting. I get that feeling when I wear too warm a color near my hair - I feel it brings out the yellow tones. But perhaps this top is too silver for your taste right now. Your hair looks gorgeous to me.

Like the others, I don't see that your hair looks dull or dirty. what I see is that your top is a very clear, very cool shade of gray, and your hair has more blonde or brown tones in it. The difference in colors doesn't mean that your hair is "wrong." There's nothing wrong with your hair! It's just that you're wearing two different grays together (hair and top) and it's not a color combo you prefer.

Wow, I really like this look on you! I think this is a pretty top and you just need to add a scarf to get a bit more colour near your face.

Hi Anchie, your hair is beautiful! I agree with some that maybe it is the low-contrast that is bothering you - but you look great to me What about trying look #3 in the blog post - a darker top with accents of gray to pick up the gray in your hair? Almost like your avatar photo actually!
