Nancy, that's exactly why I haven't yet pulled the trigger. I am having trouble imagining outfits. I have this idea that they would be great for bookending my hair (or yours, of course...even more so!) but then, as someone who does not generally wear browns, tans, or beiges, I come up blank. What would I wear them with? What, in my current or foreseeable fall/winter wardrobe, would be low-contrast enough? Answer: Nothing. MAYBE my grey skirt and some grey or nude fishnet or low contrast nude patterned tights. Maybe I could wear with skinnies (though that would be high contrast.) And there I am stuck.

The celebs wear the real Isabel Marant booties with everything, of course. High contrast, whatever. But they are young and very slender. http://blog.dianiboutique.com/.....nt-booties

As for me, I just can't get my head around wearing booties with summery outfits. Perhaps that is yet another style hurdle I will cross when the season comes round....but given my climate, I sort of doubt it. If it is warm enough to wear bare legs here, it is TOO warm to think about boots, for crying out loud!

Sveta, thank you for the warning. I have not gone so far as to make any inquiries yet. One pair of boots I liked is no longer available. Maybe this is the way to save money...

Suz, I have looked at Nordstrom's policy for international returns. If you return by mail using the same way they shipped it then taxes and duties are refunded in full but you pay for the return (I don't know how much yet, if you find out let me know). If you return in the store they do not refund the duties and taxes.:-(

Sounds like you have a lot of options should you need to make a return to Nordstrom's. Those Report Marks booties are tormenting me, too (of course, I know I'm to blame for getting you hooked on them!). I'm just not sure how I'll wear them. I can think of lots of ways to wear my black booties (black hose is an easy match), but the lighter color is not so easy.

What are you envisioning for bootie-related outfits if you buy them?

I really like the second booties. Tempting I'm sure. I have to try on my footwear in person or it's the never-ending merry-go-round of returns!

Nordie's is definitely a great place to buy any items...the CS and return policies are wonderful...if you have any specific ? on any items, be sure and use the realtime online help...if you are going to order online, I cant think of a better option. Zappos is great too, but doesnt have quite the same level of service. Also, be sure and check online reviews (from several sources) to help you pinpoint any potential issues....good luck!

Both pairs of booties look great, Suz. I say go for it if you can return them in case the fit doesn't work out for you.

I have quite a few items from Nordstrom I'm so glad I got, even though it was risky to order them from where I live: my purple trench, the butterfly dress, Maggy London colourblock dress, Aquatalia boots...)
(several scarves and necklaces, my Halogen bag, but those are risk-free items:-)

Keep us posted?

Suz, another option might be to drive across the border and mail from the U.S. since it is free returns. I got my yellow skirt on the weekend and it came with the return shipping label. If I had decided to not keep it, I would have just dropped it in the mail when I cross the border.

Thank you; this is really useful. For Americans, I believe returns are free, but being in Canada puts me in a different position. However, Sveta, what you said is SUPER helpful. It seems that if I were planning a trip to the US sometime within the next few months I could take all non-fitting items to a store for return? That would be extremely do-able. And the fact that I could also get duty/taxes back on the charge card makes it all quite convenient. Hmmm....more thinking.

My UWP sweater and tasseled scarf. I also bought a tweed elbow-patch blazer there. Check their return postage policy. If it's free, order two sizes and then keep the one that fits! (Super cute booties)

Suz, I know. I have been burned on the online shoe shopping already. I think for shoes you should have an affordable return option so you are not tempted to keep something which is not quite comfy and then can't wear it at all (that was my mistake).
What are their return options? Can you return by post? If you can then it is a safer bet because I believe taxes and duties will be returned to your card in this case. There is also an option to return in person if you travel to US - Nordstrom does not have expiration on the purchases. I have returned 4 or 5 pairs of shoes this way.
I have never ordered online from them but Michelle and Celia did, I hope they can chime in with some advice.
Good luck!

Ever since Sveta posted about the free shipping on right now I have been SO tempted to make an order. Trouble is, I'm tempted most by footwear, and it seems really ill-advised to order something that I have never tried in person. It would be one thing to order a shoe that I've tried in store.

I really want those Report Marks Booties. http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/re.....sultback=0

I'm also eyeing these: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/lu.....ltback=291

Any reports on the above?

And Nordstrom shoppers, what, besides that pencil skirt, are the items you just can't do without that you have purchased there?

Thanks!
